Ebay Has CHANGED our FREE listing Allotments, GREAT NEWS for many Sellers !!!

For anyone that may not have seen today's announcement.  Some great news for many sellers.  This should help a lot of sellers.  Thank you Ebay!!

Effective August 1, 2020, we are updating our selling fees with additional permanent zero monthly insertion fee listings so that you can continue to introduce, test, and sell new inventory. These changes will be available to all eBay sellers, and you don’t need to take any action.

This Spring, we announced free listings promotions, which proved to be a powerful and effective tool in the challenging COVID-19 environment. We want to help you keep this positive momentum going.

The number of additional monthly zero insertion fee listings sellers will receive are determined by their eBay Store subscription levels. Sellers who have been invited and signed up for managed payments will receive additional monthly zero insertion fee listings in select categories.

For all of the details on this change, please visit the Seller Center.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

I doubt it, been asking for years to change the 500 free auctions I get every month I don't use, sad I made as much up to May as I did all last year, back to barely getting by with higher fees on mangle payments in August

350 fixed price listings in all categories**

this doesn't change anything, store subscribers choose store tier based on how many items they will or may potentially use, and those numbers stay the same without this free listings - so if you know you won't be using them what's the point? What benefit is it other then having tons of free insertions you'll likely never use? Ask me, if ebay wants to give an actually "benefit" provide these free insertions with a new store tier subscription discount - that is something all sellers with store will benefit from, not free insertions.

brian@ebay @Anonymous  pass this along to the chain of command as suggestion!

With this change, speaking for myself only, I could change from paying for a Premium store to a Basic store and be in good shape.  Most of what I sell is in a covered category, so I'd have plenty of listing to use.  The 350 would cover when I sell outside my main category.  And I'd save the difference between the Basic and the Premium store.

I would miss my $50 coupon for shipping supplies, but then the savings I have between the Basic and the Premium store will more than make up for that.

I realize that this would not hold true for everyone.  But there are many of us that it would.

I think we have been over this before, but I could be wrong.  Unless you are currently in MP or are currently using PP's micropayment program, it is not likely that going into MP is going to increase your fees.  It is far more likely that it will be a neutral change.  You can not get a true view of the impact the Simplified fees will have on your account by looking at a couple transactions with sales tax.  If you want an accurate view you need to look at a month or two or more of transactions and compare them.

So far I was invited, and I signed up. Never heard anything back though. Based on this language I should qualify for the extra listings starting Aug 1st?

I was about to re-sub to a Premium store but now I am putting the brakes on that.

I am in the same situation as you in regards to managed payments and my store subscription.  I believe they are adding people who have signed up to managed payments in the second half of July so we will probably be in it by August 1st.  If not I think we might still get those additional listings since we have registered already.  I hope it all works out.  If so I will end up with nearly the same benefits that I used to get from a $300 store for only $22 a month.

IT seems almost too good to be true.  If I am able to get a Basic Store instead of a Premium my savings will help offset my storage unit rent.

small stuff not much change, larger priority mail in which half the states charge taxes on shipping, will be a decent increase, seeing average shipping is $10 to $14 for shipping and ebay charging 11-13% on taxes on top of shipping fee, adds up when selling 100-200 of them

Looks like if I used this change to go to a Basic Store from Premium I will pay an extra 10 cents per auction.  I may want to change my current tactic  - loading up on auctions - and push listing FP hard. Lots of months ebay runs promos that include auctions so I can shift to them at such times.

You are still likely to be just fine.  Not every single sale has sales tax.  On those you will come out ahead in fees.  And sales tax is a maximum of about 10% [often less] of your transaction amount.  So that means that 90% of the transaction is calculated at the lower rate.  All these reasons are why you have to look beyond a couple of transactions to actually figure out the impact you will have on your account in regards to fees.  To look at only one type of transaction will give you inaccurate information.

That depends.  If you get a good return on your auctions, why would paying 10cents for the listing even be a concern.  Don't spend a dollar to save a dime.

The goal is to "auction smart". These past few months with 200 free auctions a month I have thrown a lot up at auction and the money has been great. But lots of times stuff sold at asking price so I didn't get the benefit of bidding up. I will need to research and think about each lot a bit more carefully. Not a bad thing.

Maybe in August I will experiment by listing as much as I can in the store instead of wall-to-wall auctions and see how it impacts sales.

I'm going to need to make room to stash all this Fixed Price material though. Not every store listing sells within a week like many auctions.

That is a good plan.  Also consider raising pricing by like 25 cents.  That would help to recover any additional fees for extra auctions, planning that some may not sell at all.  Overall it should help.

You had to activate the promotion at least once during the last 3 months to get the extra listings. If you scroll down on the "announcements" blog you will see a link to activate the free listings.

I looked the covered categories... pretty much covers all, unless they consider sub-categories under each category to be charged...lol...that wouldn't surprise me though.
I have basic, because I won't be listing more then 250 listings a month, I don't even use half that. One reason is because I don't like to list too much at once, I like to list and fish, see if my original price bites or sits for awhile, even though my prices are made generally to the going cost of that version with shipping costs and fees included. Other reason is $20 a month for basic - that's enough - with that store price you have to generate $2000 in sales for the 10% TRP discount to pay for it, now with other sellers/items that maybe easy to do, in music/vinyl it's a challenge! In fact this month is the first time I ever did over that in a month invoice in sales - I shattered my top gross for monthly invoice infact by like $800-$900 this month. But my point being to upgrade would cost me more (can't remember what next store tier up costs, $50? idk)... no way I'd make that much jump in sale from what I have been doing generally month to month here, honest outlook is small growth, large growth though happened for me this month would not be common IMO.
Yes, well ebay store is useless really, way overpriced, i only use my coupon there cause I get one and feel ebay doesn't give me anything as it is so I'll take $25 every quarter and purchase tape... it's only like $2 then.

I think you have misunderstood my posts.  I have said from the beginning I was talking about downgrading my store.  I have a Premium store.  But with the upcoming changes I would be just fine with a Basic store and that would save me a little money each month.

I disagree with you about the value of a store.  I take no issue whatsoever with the price of my Premium store for the value I get.  I'm only wanting to downgrade because come August a Basic store would be just fine.

Too many people look at the value of a store as only their allotment of free listings.  But there is more.  There are vaca settings, the storefront, the ability to organize your store, lower FVFs, etc.  I find value in all that stuff.  But if you don't, you don't have to have a store.  If you don't feel it saves you money or gives you enough value for what you pay, why have one???

no, I understood your post perfectly, I wasn't replying about you specifically, I was saying in my terms

and as said, depends on what your selling if a particular store tier is justified or not. Your monthly sales should be paying for your store, either by sales or via TRP listings. I determine a store justifiable by TRP, because that discount is given at invoice, if you do the amount in TRP sales a month that store fee is paid for. But depends on how you look at it, either way, sales should be paying for the store TRP discount or not of course.

free listings are certainly part reason sellers get a store, in fact, it's really only reason so sellers don't go over the 50 free listings without a store and be charged.... the entire store tiers are based off that and that alone, off how much they are listing in a month period. But storefront isn't that dandy, it's very basic, very non-customization to your business - with that however, you do get lower FVF's but not a huge amount, prior MP this month my category is 10%, Store I get 9.15%...that's not much discount on fees, in MP most sellers with store will pay 11.5% across the board so no discount via tier anymore. And no one needs vacation setting really, it's a nice feature but don't need it when you can just go into account settings, mark for out of stock and then just bring your stock to zero for when your away... as a simple work around to vacation setting one could do that is what i mean. There is no difference between discounts with Basic to Premium store other then the amount of free listings a month (250 basic / 500 premium) and fixed price / auction listing fee (difference of 10/15 cents) and $30 a month in cost - everything else is exactly the same. The most benefits are given to Anchor and Enterprise tiers... if your doing that much in sales per month you likely don't need ebay at all in reality.

But never said it didn't save me money, i only have the store to take advantage of the discounts in first place and like said the amount of free listings. I certainly didn't decide to pay for store to just have one, like said, nothing special there, generic one-size-fits-all
