As a recent eBay seller I must reach a minimum number of transactions and value to qualify for instant access to payment and the top seller badge. It's fair except the policy measures all sellers with one standard, regardless of their products' category and market segment, which determine different seller risk profile and sales pattern. After having a few eBay reps telling me proudly eBay treats all sellers equally, I wanted to tell eBay to stop letting its reps spread misinterpretation of equality. It's never about treating everyone as if we were the same, instead it's about creating policies that take all differences into account to provide a fair environment and equal opportunity to everyone.
Another example of eBay overgeneralizing and misinterpreting equality is the listing improvement recommendations. EBay doesn't dinstinguish product segments, whether I'm selling desginer menswear or massmarket products. I was repeatedly recommended to lower price that's not even enough to buy a sleeve or a leg. The products used for comparison are completely irrelevant and the recommendations worthless. If eBay algorithm decides my products overpriced their visibility gets further harmed.
EBay, your equal treatment sucks and the results are far from equal.
