EBay accuses Amazon of trying to 'illegally poach' its sellers

The news headline for 10/03/2018 EBay accuses Amazon of trying to 'illegally poach' its sellers.

Amazon does not need to "poach" any sellers from eBay. Wenig has crashed this company in to an ice burg and the stock prices are finally showing the results of his leadership and continuous updates to hide the issues on their site. I have been on eBay since Sep. 1999 selling. From 2008-15 I was making $135K per year with less than 500 items listed for sale. In Aug. 2016 I was on par to make $150K going in to the holiday season. Anyone in business knows that the holidays mean $$$. From Aug 2016 to present day my sales IMIDIATELY dropped to $70K EXACTLY per year and have not changed. There may be up's and downs but you don't lose $75K a year in sales over night unless there is an outside force causing it. The outside force would be eBay THROTTLING and LIMITING the sales of US based sellers. I countered this throttling by increasing my inventory. I now have over 1000 items listed for sale. That is MORE THAN DOUBLE THE INVENTORY, Result...My sales are now below $70K per year! When contacting CS at eBay they LIE and say there are NO LIMITS on my account. REALLY? In closing, there is no reason for Amazon to poach any sellers from eBay. Quite frankly, eBay is shoving sellers out the door to make room for all the Chinese based sellers and their lead based, cheap plastic, sub-par, flea market products! eBay has fallen so far that this once household name has barely any relevance in the online sale community. Trust me I know. I am presently in a 38hr blackout with no sales...again I have 1000+ items in my PAID FOR PREMIUM STORE. I pay for a service that eBay is not only failing to provide but they encourage growth and then secretly limit your companies ability to grow! eBay FIRE WENIG! Reboot your site to a time before Cassini, do away with Cassini and get rid of 95% of your un-needed updates that broke your once working site. IMO!

I read the full Wall Street Journal article ..which was boring because the accusations are pretty weak,  and everyone already knows about Amazon, I don’t sell there, but am aware of them as I buy a lot on Amazon, and Im aware of other platforms to sell.started to become very aware when the first round of changes were announced..think in January? 

However the comments section, well the responses are a reflection of reality, fortunately I can still find humor in the comments, guess it’s good to see that the sellers here don’t all suck..that there is a bigger issue. 

Still need to unload merchandise but this reinforces the idea that I need to spend more time building up my presence on other sites. Thank you for posting.

Wow---and Ebay is STILL allowing listings to appear with Amazon.com in the beginning of listing titles. Apparently, they have no problem with Amazon blatantly poaching Ebay's customers.

Us sellers cannot be "poached," we can simply decide the competition is better for us and leave on our own free will. If Amazon is better and eBay continues the downward spiral than we may do that.

eBay better wake up to the fact sellers want to leave eBay because of all the things they're doing to hurt us. If they weren't doing these things, no one would have any reason to leave.

eBay SOLD those ads and put them on our listings!  It's nothing like the same thing. 

eBay alleges 50 Amazon sales rep.s sent eBay Messages to 1,000 eBay sellers recruiting them to sell on Amazon.  They apparently figured this out after a seller notified them 10 days ago.  However, I'm aware of eBay sellers being contacted and recruited by Amazon YEARS ago... so as usual, eBay is apparently the last person on the planet to figure out what's going on with their own site. 

I guess those "sophisticated algorithms" they brag about are just a big hoax?

Doesn't seem very efficient... probably took them over a week to get 20 Messages each to go through eBay's pathetic Messages system...

I think it's a great compliment that Amazon would want to pursue sellers on Ebay. That would mean that whoever they choose to communicate with most likely have a good thing going on at Ebay and Amazon wants a piece of that. Totally unethical of the bigger than big company to do such a thing, especially using Ebay's own site to do it. Shame on you Amazon. I hope Ebay blasts them. LOL.

Amz has as many or more issues than ebay with faulty returns, sellers getting their merch stolen with extremely lenient return and refund policies. They had two scammers who stole millions of dollars worth of their own merchandise. Nothing different there. Bezo's also put limits on how many times people could return stuff before their buying priveges were revoked.

eBay WANTS buyers to leave, since they know they won't be getting more unique page visits any time soon, go on YT and search eBay, the comments quickly show EVERYONE knowns eBay is full of fake junk they did it to themselves, the company ate it'self

We agree with you 100%.  Amazon has nothing to do with sellers leaving ebay.  it has everthing to do with ebay though.  Best regards
