EBAY needs to restrict negative feedback

I received a negative feedback the other day.

Technically, for me, it's no big deal, as I am fully aware I cannot please everyone. The buyer is entitled to their opinion, even though I believe their opinion is 100% wrong.

What frustrates me, however, is this buyer has left FIVE negative feedbacks in the past couple of months, verses leaving only ONE positive feedback during the same period of time. The last FOUR feedbacks she left were all negatives.

In all feedbacks left, this buyer leaves a negative about 40% of the time.

40% NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS LEFT !!!

I hate to point out the obvious to ebay, but this so-called "buyer" is nothing but a CONSTANT COMPLAINER.

I sincerely believe if a "buyer" leaves more than 10% negative feedbacks, they should be disallowed from leaving feedback at all.

Ebay, start tracking the negative feedback left on YOUR SYSTEM.

Cherry it wasn’t about you at all. It was about castle but I can see where the misunderstanding arose.

I apologized because I thought I blew it on my interpretation.  We just took the word, message, to mean different things, and I didn't take out of it what was intended.

I think we're all good now!  Smiley Happy

And just to point out before I go away in shame, I don’t agree with what the buyer did. Leaving the neg was wrong. I just throw inclusions out and move on. That’s what this buyer should have done.

We just don’t have the buyer here to talk to. Only the seller, so I am trying to stop the seller from making any further mistakes. Follow ups to feedback are more important than the feedback itself. Sellers need to consider the message they are sending to future buyers.

Aww, don't go away in shame, no reason to do that!  I agree, I would just toss what I didn't want.  I know you are trying to protect the seller from further negs like this, and that's a good thing!

I LOVE this show so much!! If I could do it all over again I'd be in LE. It's my dream job. I was actually in school for it (would have been an older cop, like that show The Rookie, lol) but my health problems put a stop to pretty much everything the last few years. I love watching the job, I love the people, and there's some pretty nice eye candy on there, too. Craigmyle, Curley, many others hahaha. Smiley Very Happy I like Officer Zendajas in El Paso a lot too. She was on Tom Morris Jr's podcast PD Stories and she seemed really cool. I used to not like her but I respect her a lot after hearing that.

Gosh, sorry for going somewhat off topic here lol.  cherry fizz

Oh by all means be my guest  lol  ! We LOVE the show too and the new Live pd body cam  is even more exciting to watch ,, although they include some terrible tragedy at times . We DVR the show so we never miss an episode ,, ever . My husband got his best friend Mark hooked on the show  and Mark has actually thanked him for telling him about it . I agree about the eye candy too . I heard especially  Sean Larkin [ Sticks ]  has set the internet on fire  with his popularity  🙂  Tulips

Yes it is ! I baked a double batch of peanut butter cookies from scratch last night  and I plan on giving them out to our neighbors ,, whats left  that is . The most painful work involved is trying to keep my hubby's grubby paws out of them . His only saving grace is the new electric pressure cooker  I'm getting for Christmas .Don't ask me how  I know ,, I just do and we'll leave it at that  . LOL  Tulips  🙂

Those cookies sound GREAT!  Your neighbors will love them.  Who doesn't love cookies?   Sounds like you have to hide them from hubby.

My Mom used to make fudge and seashell decorated Christmas cards for the neighbors every Christmas.  I got to deliver them.

As for the pressure cooker, I would just put down your knowing to your incredibly sensitive awareness and perception.  You know things.  It's a trait some of us have.  LOL  (Or a very lucky peek!)

If you really put Christian literature into purchases you need to separate what is Caesar's and what is God's, so to speak, and cut it out.

People who harangue as part of their buisness plan need to expect backlash. If I want religion or politics I'm NOT going to buy it on eBay, thanks.

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

Just a heads up, the reply you left to that customer's feedback makes you sound unhinged. As a buyer, that negative feedback lets me know what I'm in for and what kind of person I'm doing business with. That feedback makes me think you're a nutjob and is a strong signal to stay away.

I would not call passively putting a pamphlet in a package haranguing someone. There is no aggression, there is no anger, there is no lecturing. It's giving someone information. If the OP kept sending them brochures on a weekly or daily, heck even a monthly basis, started calling them about it after their business is complete then I can see it being a problem. I would be upset by that too. Even if they followed up and said "Did that brochure I sent you change your mind on anything?"  I would have a problem with that. But simply sending a piece of paper? It takes no longer to look at and toss if that's your wish than it does to look at a packing slip and throw that in the trash. I don't need or want a packing slip. Should I get so offended that I have to take a second to put it in the recycling bin that I leave negative feedback? It makes no sense.

It's like an old friend of mine. We'd go downtown and these church people would be out there and simply say "Here's some information on our church." She would get SO ticked off. She would either swear at them or take the piece of paper, throw it on the ground in front of them and spit on it. I don't know why this whole thing offended her so much. She could have just as easily been polite, said "No, thank you.", or even just ignore them and go on with her day. I still don't understand it.

If a business put pamphlets for a church on my car while in their parking lot, and I was not interested, I would remove them and move on. If that's where it ended I would not give them a negative or a bad review just for that if I had an otherwise satisfactory experience with that business. I understand people not wanting to talk about politics or religion, I completely do. I rarely do either. But this is *not* talking about it, it's looking at a pamphlet, on your own with no pressure to do anything, that might take you 1 second to decide you aren't interested and toss it out.

I often tell of the buyer who left NINETEEN Negs out of TWENTY FOUR purchases.  At some point you need to admit that maybe Ebay buying isnt for you but there really is no mechanism to limit how many negs a buyer leaves or a threshold for banning them.  Though I do hear Amazon is doing this to people who return too many items - in that case I have to side with the buyer.  It shouldnt be their fault that the sellers send the wrong thing or dont send anything etc.

Great points.  You hit the nail on the head.  Some will perennially find fault and so buying online may not be the best choice for them.  Possibly they just had really bad luck, but possibly they are very hard to please.

Not every little issue warrants negative feedback, IMO.  While you may want to protect other buyers, you can also be viewed as the problem.  It's a sticky wicket for the buyer who doesn't want to hurt someone's livelihood but does want to protect other buyers.  And if they do leave a neg, that neg may mysteriously disappear anyway.  Either way, you can't judge what isn't there.  Buyers can do all they can to avoid a problematic transaction and still end up in one.
