I also think marked-up books would be tough to read but at steep discounts they sell readily. I am sure that for many students on financial aid any break on price is welcome.

Financial aid? LOL!!!!!!

I wasn't on financial aid. I was working three part-time jobs (and it was NOT enough to live on) and taking 18 credits and STILL didn't have enough money for textbooks. Students on financial aid were better off than I was.

Unfortunately, I had some of those profs who switched books almost every year, so even used books were not available. So... you go without, BUT, I was grateful for used books, very grateful, marked up or not, I didn't care.

Re: EBAY Sales

wish you’d post from your store so we could see the miracle at work. I don’t get the alternate ID thing,, especially if you are one of the few that are doing well

Re: EBAY Sales

Agree on that..their helpful hints on selling are not hints, they are threats acted upon if one does not comply..my recommendation is diversify, use same store name when you do, and pinterest for your business but also take time to pin items related in some way and follow others that are strategic to your product line. It helps.

Re: EBAY Sales

Ebay seems to be dying, ever since their new updates. Not for nothing, but the updates suck as well. Some people make a living on Ebay, and that's going to be hard for those people now. Thankfully, many people don't rely on Ebay like that, so that's a relief. 🙂

I have been selling little to nothing. This has just occurred over the past month and a half. ???????????

I hope that Ebay changes their updates and that we can get more sales!

Thank you for your post and God bless. 🙂

Re: EBAY Sales

Yes, they want quality sellers and they drive them away...plus they drive away all international buyers with their Global program, which is complete robbery for overseas buyers...

Re: EBAY Sales

I have been selling for over 10 years and my sales have always been good but it seems lately I couldn't sell a glass of water to someone in the dessert. I have no idea why my sales have dropped 90% and it's very frustrating because it takes about 30 minutes from start to finish to list each item. Ebay used to be a great place to sell not it's just a great place to waste my life away   😞

YUP!! They have censored and WARNED me as well......OOOOHHHHHH

I also got warned for this comment "Please have a day off".

I think someone got their fair share of the truth, which they did not like, and had a busy rest of the day reporting people to the mods. Very sad and childish.

No, it's not just you.

2018 had been pretty good up to July.  Now, in August, I've made ONE sale only.  Unprecedented.

Top Rated, Power Seller, excellent feedback, and can't seem to get beyond that 1 sale this month.  It's very frustrating.

Re: EBAY Sales

The exact same thing for me! My sales were very good up to July and I've only sold 1 item for a whopping $25 in August (I only have about 50 items listed now). My items are getting some hits but there's no buyers. My theory is that the normal end users aren't shopping around and only bargain hunters and other dealers are buying stuff to resell after August. There are some sellers who are giving there items away for cheap and they seem to be the only ones selling anything. I have 10 free listings left for this month and I'm going to list some low-end stuff to try to make a few sales. September and October are usually good months for selling used vintage items and art, November and December are okay, and January through March are always good since customers have tax refunds to spend. eBay's new Seller Updates will be experiencing the test of time within a few months.

This was a response to my post, so I thought I would explain further:

I understand you had to do it all on your own, but marked up books are very hard to read.

Also what one considered important may not be the same as your child.

Thankfully you can buy used books or rent them slightly used that do not have it.

When I used to get books for my kids, we would flip through all the books.  If you go early and really search through you can find them slightly used with no markings at the same price.

College and grad school is difficult enough without putting your child at a disadvantage.  A lot of reading each night so why make it more difficult for them.
