I have a store. Every month I modify my listings (including lowering the price) I DO NOT WANT ALL MY LISTINGS "WHICH I AM PAYING FOR !!!@" to automatically relist.
EBAY IS HORRIBLE !

We should all sue to ensure that we get even more free stuff!
Other than the base 50 listings that all members get, it's not free. Stores have to pay a store subscription fee, and that fee is paid by 99.99% of stores because of the extra listings they receive. I can't think of any other store features that are worth $20+/month.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the big argument about GTC that you will be charged when the relist happens before the end of the month? I keep hearing it framed as a cash grab and how it will put people out of business......
@jason_incognito No, the argument is that it causes more TIME MANAGEMENT in the listing process (and it does) and less freedom to rotate inventory efficiently. If you slip up, it can also cost you more money.
Take this for example of a store that can list 250 free fixed duration listings in a given month:
1) In the old model, you could list 250 at any point you wanted. Say... 20 a day for about 2 weeks. No problem. Next month rolls around, they expire after 30 days and sit in your Unsold Items. If you CHOSE to relist them, you could. Or you could choose to make alterations to them. You weren't bound to make the alterations immediately, and if you missed some days during the first 2 weeks, no biggie - they just sat in your Unsold Items. You could still list 20 NEW listings a day starting on the 1st, then pick and choose which you wanted to relist - without having to actively manage the listings as they expire.
2) In the NEW model, you can't list 250 free fixed duration listings. They're all Good Till Canceled. If you list the above 20 per day for the first 2 weeks or so, you will have to ACTIVELY monitor your listing BEFORE they expire the next month to prevent auto-relists ON A DAILY BASIS. This causes more work and more stress on sellers. Additionally, you must end the listing BEFORE the 30 days is up, thus decreasing your listing time. Listings that automatically renew DO NOT GET NEWLY LISTED STATUS, and if you curtail the end of a listing, you short change yourself on the ABOUT TO END listing status as well. Moreover, if you miss a few days, your items are getting automatically relisted; with this GTC model, YOU MUST MANAGE YOUR INVENTORY AND LISTINGS DAILY.
...now imagine that scenario for bigger stores with 1000 listings a month, or even 10,000!
It's the difference between an opt-in system, and a system that chooses for you. Nobody likes removal of choice - especially when more time and more money is involved.

In 2013, eBay set up a $6.4 million settlement fund in response to a judgment against them, and paid that out to qualifying members of the class action lawsuit.
"Sounds strangely familiar to what these boards are talking about lately.
"The suit is entitled Richard Noll and Rhythm Motor Sports, LLC v. eBay Inc., Case No. 5:11-CV-04585 (EJD), and alleges that eBay did not adequately explain that fees for the Good ‘Til Cancelled listing duration (“GTC Listings”) would be charged every 30 days."

Yes, you are correct and thanks for posting!
Looks like eBay doesn't learn from their mistakes. From what I read in an article eCommerce Bytes (dated Feb. 27, 2015), the settlement agreement was finalized in Feb. of 2015.

The bottom line is Ebay does not care if you like it or not.

My biggest problem with the new policy is that I used that time frame to reprice items and decide what to do with old inventory. This is really going to mess up my business practice.

Again, I have to correct you.
The main point of a store (and the cost associated with it) are the "free" listings per month. People wouldn't have stores without the "free" monthly allotment of listings. If you think any of those features that are listed are worth $20/month or more, you are serious deluding yourself.

Maybe it is the store fees that are killing you. I had a store for about 2 months way back when I first started but gave it up. I get a pretty generous allowance of freebies and we all have listing limits anyway. Even with GTC (which is the norm on other sites for FP items) we all have to go through and pull the nonstarters and slow movers periodically and if you sell on multiple sites, you have to juggle what sells elsewhere and replace those with new items. I really don't get all the hatred for GTC. It seems to be working fine for me.

How about that. Today I got "You earned the
Conversation Spark badge " seems lots of people think Ebay is harassing its sellers.
