I'm reading through these boards and all I see is chaos. People getting scammed and filing police reports or wanting to hire attorneys. Tax crisis. Veterans who have been selling here for years having tens of thousands of dollars being held by ebay. Sellers being banned and punished for no reason that they control, without anyway to appeal.
Politicians don't cause as much unhappiness as does ebay. I'm still looking for the thread about how great ebay is and all it's done.

Their dodgy accounting boosted their 2021 Q4 results but the big driver of that (Rivian) went the other direction in January and Q1 2022 may not look very good.

The forum is filled with problems that are trying to get resolved. Why would a successful seller come to toot his horn?
For what it is worth, i like selling on eBay, and have for many years. I have no complaints. Have never been scammed. Love my buyers. Don’t mind the fees.

Luckily, that person still has an account!

Global leader? Maybe in disappointment! lol No sales all weekend! I had 20 customers at the flea market today, though. Traffic is vey low compared to eBay yet, sales are much better. Only about 13 sales in 2 weeks here. Nothing to cheer about. You have to get lucky with 1 or 2 random buyers who wish to spend. I had that luck this week because of 1 excellent buyer. Best success to all. 🙂

For all the sellers and buyers where things are going fine, why would they come here to complain? Only when things go wrong do people come here looking for help. Generally they get the help they need from compassionate volunteers. Plus, others can learn from people that come here to complain, and not fall in the same trap.

@silverstatetreasureboxes Oh, it's already a song. Lawyers for Velcro brand closures will tell you anything else is hook and loop, not Velcro. So, please...don't use Velcro for non-Velcro brand closures, they are just...hook and loop. Sing along, now!

That is what you should expect to see. This message board is for problem sellers looking for answers. For every problem seller who shows up there are thousands upon thousands who are dong fine and don't need answers. Those are the ones who do not blame Ebay for lack of sales and anything else that goes wrong in their lives.

This is only a thought: IF e-Bay has millions of sellers, as I have read, and many more buyers, then the percentage of problems detailed on this forum are miniscule. Even if one were to increase the factor of actual troubles by 100, that is still considerably small.

Go hang out on the discussion board related to other Marketplaces like Amazon, Etsy, Walmart etc. etc. etc.
You will find more of the same and sometimes worse. In fact you will find the same complaints about just about every company if you spend enough time to actually experience what goes on.
That said, other than a couple of problem buyers I've have no issues of significance in the 23 years I've been selling here (about 75,000 transactions). Doesn't mean I'm in love with all of eBay's policies, doesn't mean I'm not annoyed by the technical glitches but I understand that online these issues are as common as dirt EVERYWHERE.
One other thing.....to put it bluntly there are way too many sellers here who have no clue at all what they are doing, half the issues they post about could be solved just by reading the help files and seller updates.
Into your life it will creep

I'm a far bigger $eller on Amazon than I am here. The simplistic scams which you claim eBay is powerless to deal with are not a problem at Amazon. Sure, Amazon has 100x the amount of resources but at some point we really have to require more from eBay in this area and stop making excuses.

Oh yeah, about that Global Leader thing.
Since 1995 eBay has consistently been the largest pure Marketplace site outside of China, only Alibaba is in the same league.
The other big online players (Amazon, Walmart) are not pure marketplaces as they sell their own goods and for Amazon it's still almost 50% of the total (Walmart much higher).
Into your life it will creep

At least the OP got the title of the topic correct.
