EBAY FEES

I've been an eBay member since 2004 and so I told John that I wanted to check ALL my transactions back to 2004. From 2004 thru 2007, they were charging 3-7%, from 2008 through 2020, they were charging 10%, and from 2021 as part of the Managed system (eBay is no longer linked to Paypal), they have been charging 12.55% on most transactions. Because they have been charging me more than they were supposed to, John said that this case was being handed to somebody at the highest level of eBay to check why eBay has been charging more than they were supposed to. I also had John request that I be able to see ALL my transactions so when they checked my transactions back to 2004 that I would be able to confirm their figures of how much they were refunding me for over-charging me. I am telling you all of this so all of you can check their figures for how much they are charging you for the eBay fees.

EBAY FEES

Nothing that you wrote about your fees seems to be out of the ordinary. The 12.55% is the current going rate and 10% was the previous rate, can't remember what it was before that. What sort of "Refund" are you expecting?

I hope that "John" is not asking for any gift card #'s so that your account can be verified for access to be able to provide you with those figures, and/or refund on your charges.

@ladyrose722

In your other thread "John" confirmed that you were overcharged $6.21?  I find that to be quite the surprise.

How did you get in touch with "John from eBay"?

EBAY FEES

EBay fees also vary if you are selling in different categories.

For example, Books have a 12.2% FVF, while Sneakers over $100 have 0%FVF.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/store-selling-fees?id=4122

In addition, there are lower FVF for Store subcribers and higher fees for sellers with Defects.

The "jump" from 10% to 12.55% (sic) would be due to the change from Paypal payment processing to Managed Payments.

With PP you paid 10% (on average) in FVF to eBay PLUS 30c and 2.9% to PP for domestic sales.

With MP you pay 12.35% (on average) plus 30 c for each domestic sale to eBay, and nothing to PP.

There was also a change when the US Supreme Court gave states permission to make venues like eBay, Amazon and WalMart to add state sales taxed (Internet Sales Tax) to their resident's online purchases. These taxes are a passthrough on your customer's invoice, but because the processor (MP or PP) handles the tax, they charge their fees (2.9%) on the whole payment including the tax.

If you sell internationally, PP charged you 4.4% to process foreign payments, not counting any currency exhange fees.

EBAY FEES

Like everyone else here I hate that the fees have gone up so much since the old days.

But the reality is everything that we pay money for has gone up since the mid 2000’s.

Gas, electricity, wifi, coffee, fruit, vegetables, ground meat, homes, vehicles, repairs for your home and vehicles, dinning out, books, games, household appliances, bedding, cigarettes, beverages, computers, clothing, medication, concerts, sporting events, shoes, sneakers, buying a pet, pet food, pet necessities, paper goods, HAVING CHILDREN and everything they need.

I can go on and on but sadly  this how life is. And with this maniac as President, it’s gonna get a whole lot more expensive to live.

I remember when gas was 68 cents. Fees go up, prices go up. Simple economics.

Fees based on (purchase price + shipping + sales tax) plus 30 cent handling charge.   Of course, there could be additional fees if you have promoted items or international money exchange.

Ahhh, no.  You leave out those nasty PayPal fees from 2004 - 2020.  You also leave out that 2020 was a record year for many sellers, myself for 1.  And you also leave out that fees are dramatically lowered for Basic Stores and higher level stores.  Who is John?  You don't mean the one who raised those fees back then?  lol
