Hey guys, Recently I had someone purchase my lenovo laptop for 875$. They paid the full price then proceeded to ask to send the item too a new address (a hotel) for supposedly “having a conference” This led me to think that this guy is a scammer which I later found out was true due to someone else saying the exact same thing on another one of these eBay community blogs.
Stay safe.

True. What is missing is the name of the hotel thus the address can be researched. Too many bad things in this one so as stated would at least cancel then think about blocking.

It doesn't sound like a fake scammer. It sounds like a REAL scammer.

There's no point in researching the address as it will almost certainly be genuine. Even scammers want to receive the item, after all.
The first point to check is whether the ID of the person requesting the change of address is actually the same as the buyer. If it isn't, then it's not the buyer, so just ignore it and ship to the address received with the payment.
If the address change is actually coming from the buyer, then cancel due to Problem With Address, and tell the buyer that he'll need to correct his Ship-To: address before re-paying.
