NOTHING has been "forced" on you. Every listing you do, every time you open eBay, you are doing so by your own free will. Nobody from eBay shows up at your home and twists your arm.
I would imagine if they wanted to force something on you, they would choose forcing you to read the rules of the road.

If they do form some sort of eBay Force, I would like to submit my application. You know, knock on doors, deal with fraudsters, collect payments, etc.

Prior to that ... PayPal had been charging fees on sales tax ... as have every credit card company known to mankind. I guess evil abounds! Hope you find a way to tip-toe around/through/over/under it. 🙂
PayPal charged 2.9% on the total transaction, including the sales tax portion. Managed Payments charges 12.55% on the total transaction, including the sales tax portion--9.65% more than PayPal. For small transactions, it's a matter of pennies, but it adds up. It would, of course, have a bigger impact on more expensive items.

The difference pointed out is true, and often overlooked.......
IMHO....Based on an average (6.5%) Sales Tax for every $100 in sales, ebay collects an additional 0.57 in FVF.....(compared to PP) well worth it to deal with the disbursements to the States requiring the collection. It is not quite as simple as some purport it to be. In Ohio as an example. There are 88 counties with varying tax rates (5.75% to 8.50%) as well as additional exemptions for items in some rural counties. It is well worth the couple pennies to have the whichever platform I am using to deal with and me be out of it........being in retail for 20+ years...it is a relief not to have to deal with the state agencies.....

You have been around long enough I would have thought you would have known better?? What s small petty post
Not forced but they have changed rules constantly for over 20 years
Just kinds roll with it but collecting 12.35 commission on taxes they force collected is **bleep**

You have an item shipping USPS 1st Class that you are charging $15 from AZ to my place in NV. You are more than covering your costs by doing this. 1st Class maxes at around $6+.
Being charged on tax collected is $1 for a $100 sale
Collecting, reporting and submitting to 45 states on a quarterly basis all due to items YOU sold, has a cost to doing this work. $1 for a $100 sale is not a big deal and is MORE than fair.
After all- they could just 'NOT' charge on the tax portion and just charge you 15% for all items sold; or you could just overcharge the customers on shipping to cover it, as is apparent that is already what you do.

wow I am surprised by all the people who Love being taxed
and think fees on taxes are also great
do not mind e bay CHARGING fees they do and they find new ways to charge more for the same service
but this is DIFFERENT
if you do not get IT then it is OVER your head

This isn't a new "change" because I haven't sold anything on ebay in close to 2 years and I paid FVF on the total amount of the transaction.

thats probably true
just noticed on a big sale when the fees was 25.00 extra just on taxes collected

Not that we love being "taxed", or are thrilled with the fees. We just have to roll with the way things are done.
If you play in the sandbox, you play by the rules set up by the owner of the sandbox, or you take your toys to go play in the green grass.
I ran the #'s on many of my sales (don't sell big $ items) and the difference in MP was so small it did not matter. That was before PP raised their fee %age for many sellers. Also, on the rare occasion that I do refund, I get my FVF refunded sans the 30 cents. PP kept is all with some sellers. Run that in the #'s.
I did adjust a few pennies on the smalls, and $$ on the higher cost items where I could, but my business model is just fine with MP fees.

I wish they would have just required calculated shipping for everything except books, and a limit on handling fees. Then they wouldn't have punished us all for the actions of a few.

So you are in favor of a sort of "price fixing" set up, and opposed to "free enterprise" !!!!!

". . . taxes they forced collected . . ."? Since eBay is collecting state sales taxes BY LAW and has no other choice, can you explain that statement?
Just wondering -- when you pay for your purchases at WalMart, Target or wherever you shop, is that store force collecting those funds from you?
