E bay App won't list and asked me to assign policy or list via web browser

Hi All

I tend to work on the E bay app.

For some reason I can't complete listings, add photo's or use the "sell similar" function using the app. I receive an error message asking me to assign "business policy" or continue using a web browser.

Is this a glitch with the app at the moment or move designed to be "helpful"?

Any suggestions please?

Personally, I never use the app do to listings.  That thing drives me crazy.  However.

With regards to "Policies" these are options to set a group policy for things like payment preferences, returns, and shipping preferences.

If you have never created one or not used them, its far easier to set those up from the website directly vs the app.

https://www.ebay.com/bp/manage

This is where you can manage those polices.   Once you have set up a few, you can then select them in the app for the payment and shipping sections.

Hi

Thank you for your answer.

Returns and postage policies have been in place for over a decade so not sure why the app wants to redirect me. Having scheduled a listing via the web browser the listing applied the policies as normal.

It would appear the app is having a magic moment.

Yes, but the policy system had been revamped more recently than the past decade. Maybe within the last couple years.

However, it may be an issue with the app.  I see you are located in the UK as well.  I know they have some different rules with apps there, maybe there is an issue that the app isn't as up to date, or an update broke it.

Personally, I would try to use a browser/computer interface, that may get around the issue for now.

I don't use the app, but I read a couple of different posts in an eBay Facebook group regarding issues with the app.

So you make 3, within a couple of days.

I think you're right that the app is having a magic moment, but I think it has stretched beyond a moment now.

There are multiple posts on the Report Tech Issues board about things going all wonky since the last update (Thursday night 3/27/25). I didn't click on all of them to see if anyone was using the app, but it's possible that the update is what's causing your issue too.

If your app is up-to-date with the update from Thurs, and then your issue began happening, maybe try reverting to the pre update instance of the app. I honestly have no idea how to do that though, sorry. You could also try rebooting your phone.
