Sorry, eBay...Just not going to be able to sell on eBay now. They are not Getting my Bank Account Password.  This is a no-brainer. eBay had been Hacked Big Time Many Times. No more sales on eBay for me.

You do understand what "power of attorney" means, since you gave it too Ayden on your bank account.

I had to give my bank's routing number and my account number, the same numbers that are printed along the bottom of my checks.  If someone is asking for your password, I suspect you are being scammed.

That aside ...

eBay is moving every seller into Managed Payments, and that requires providing a checking account for deposits (and fees, if your Managed Payments funds do not cover it). So if you are "invited" and do not register a checking account, you will eventually be stopped from selling here.

Good luck at whichever new venue you choose!

Apparently not everyone did that.

Only people whose bank did not appear on the lit of recognized banks. In those cases eBay uses PayWithMyBank to verify accounts, and it is PayWithMyBank that has the clause about a LIMITED power of attorney.

Here is the ecommercebytes write up where I found this information (this is a site that is often critical of eBay, by the way).

And it explains that in these cases, a user ID and password is required.

eBay only needs your bank routing number and account number the same as you gave PayPal

The only time it happened was in about February / March of 2014 Ebay was hacked.  The site was hacked.  The hackers were able to get the passwords on quite a few accounts.  However that is encrypted information and the hackers were never able to break the coding, so they never got to our more sensitive information.  So no one lost any financial info and Ebay did have some as sellers put in auto payment information for the Monthly Seller Invoice and some sellers had credit cards as a back up funding source.  But the Ebay security held up to this attack and sellers were not affected

Re: Duh...Bank Accouint Password **bleep** is wrong here?

I was also moved to MP october 31  2020

I am pretty sure I had to give ebay the numbers/passwords they wanted

what I was not prepared for was doing it with paypal

befor covid and March 2020 I had neve done an instant transfer with paypal

paypal was offering free instant transfers and I never used them..........

my paypal transfers were always in the next morning so I had no reason to use instant

curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to make an instant transfer summer of 2020

I figured it woud be a cinch since they had my info already

well they wanted my password and logon info and they used an outside provider to do the check on it. I thnk I could have also done the deposit  24 cents thing or the slower route

I do not think I ever made an instant bank transfer with paypal.it was free for a number of months last year
