Downward feedback revision?

Under my other account I sent the correct item but I had two and sent the one that was not pristine as I presented it. As soon as I found out I had ebay send him a return label. He gave me a Neutral FB. I've asked him to withdraw or change it as I've been upfront the entire time.

I will be relisting and frankly I want to block him from bidding a second time. Can he change his FB to a Negative (downward revision)?

Re: Downward feedback revision?

Neutral FB means nothing-

Just reply factually and professional to it OR just leave it and move on.

If you keep bugging the buyer, they may agree to revise and revise to a Negative.

Buyers can only revise FB IF you send them a request BUT be careful what you wish for!

Of course you can block his account.

Re: Downward feedback revision?

Not to sound too harsh, everybody makes mistakes, but you goofed, and the buyer now has to go out of their way to return the incorrect item. I'd say you made out well with a neutral.

Re: Downward feedback revision?

I'm pretty sure they can keep the same or better, but not worse.

Re: Downward feedback revision?

So they can revise to a worse rating? That's my main question.

I'm always a pro whenever responding to a Neutral or Negative, no matter how I actually feel.  I've had maybe ten or fifteen non-positives in 20+ years.

Re: Downward feedback revision?

You screwed up. Sending a return label does not make up for having screwed up.

When I screw up, and I do screw up, I do my best to make the customer know I share his pain and do my best to correct the problem. If I can find a way to get him what he ordered, I do.

Sometimes I cannot fix things.

A neutral FB is a painless punishment for screwing up. I do not bother a buyer who chose to leave it, nor would I block them from buying what they really wanted. (And I am quick on the trigger at blocking bad buyers).

Re: Downward feedback revision?

You want to block a buyer from future purchases because of your error🤔 Now that's just as confusing as all get out🙃

Are you asking whether a buyer can change his feedback on his own? No.

Are you asking whether a buyer can change his feedback from neutral to negative if you send him  feedback revision request? I have no experience, but the policy doesn't seem to prevent it:

Re: Downward feedback revision?

If you sent a feedback revision request.  I think they can revise to whatever they want?  (I think?)

Yes, if you send the buyer a revision request, they could revise to a worse rating.

They could improve it, leave it the same, or downgrade it, and they can change the wording with any of those options.

Re: Downward feedback revision?

Thank you for your responses. I've been posting here for years trying to help others but based on some on the non-responsive comments I am done.  Time better spent elsewhere, anywhere. In the words of Fleetwood Mac, never goin' back again.

Au revoir mes amis. Look it up.
