Downgrading subscription premium to basic

For and against downgrading. How many of you downgraded this month?

@partfinds

no penalty to level-up if you decide you want it back at some point in the future.  But you would have pd the penalty amount.

Only you can decide what is best.  If you receive some additional level of benefit (extra free listings, etc).

At your current level of listings, Basic makes more sense based on what you have shared.

You clearly are a little torn over over the decision.  I would suggest taking a few days to decide.  The 31st is a few days off.   Good luck!

Re: Downgrading subscription premium to basic

At this point my sales this month are down by 50% compared to previous and previous was down from previous. The shipping supplies from Ebay are not even getting used. My inventory is getting larger. And i am losing motivation when it is fruitless.

What are the implications of going from anual rate to monthly and then downgrade to basic? Can i do it without penalties? Or is it better to just go from anual premium to anual basic? What are the penalties?

Re: Downgrading subscription premium to basic

You currently have fewer than 250 listings, so maybe you don't need a store at all. Do you have enough sales to justify the subscription cost through savings on final value fees?

I am not looking for advice but the answer to questions I posted. There is no need to evaluate my store now. I can do it. I asked specific questions if you want to answer would be appreciated.

Re: Downgrading subscription premium to basic

When is your subscription up?

We downgraded to Basic last year when they re-vamped stores/offerrings.

You will pay a penalty to downgrade (balance of your annual contract delta) - no penalty to upgrade - penalty to downgrade unless at subscription renewal.

I actually just canceled my store. They have changed things only to screw sellers in general. At this point I'll do whatever I can to not  give them money.

Re: Downgrading subscription premium to basic

Larger stores with more items benefit from bigger subscriptions because you are able to relist far more without incurring listing fees.

If your listings are fewer, going to a smaller store subscription could very well be worth it.  You still get the same quarterly packing supply credit, and you aren't wasting  a whole bunch of free listings you aren't using.

@katzrul15

My subscription just renewed at the end of february. I was looking to do it then but I got false impression —sales went up and gave up. Maybe that was the trick for bay to do to make people keep subscription by upping sales on or around that time.

1. Please, share did changing subscription negatively impacted your sales? At the time I was considering downgrading , bay displayed message stating that my sales may go down if I do.

2. How do I go about penalties of changing subscription? Anual to monthly to basic or anual premium to anual basic?

Re: Downgrading subscription premium to basic

My sales were really strong in Feb also.  Now that everyone gets Terapeak AND they lent features from Selling Manager Pro to all sellers AND give you 10k free listings (certain categories), it was a no-brainer for me then and would be a no-brainer for me now.

Don't remember the difference in cost, but you'll pay the delta to round out the subscription.  My sales stayed strong until mid-April (spring seller timeline)  then died off.

I stayed with annual due to rate savings - isn't much, but nickels add up.

Do you get any perks with a Premium store now?

You posted all those questions and new information in a second post, while I was composing my reply to your first post which was very general and vague.

You can find  a chart which shows the early termination penalty fees when you cancel or downgrade an annual subscription in the store terms of service:

@partfinds

Monthly has no contract penalty.  Go to Subscription Mgmt for your Store.  Click on downgrade - it tells you exact costs, etc

Re: Downgrading subscription premium to basic

I upgraded then downgraded.  So I guess that doesn't really count.

I was just looking to get out of paying to list for the next nine days.  But upgrading didn't fix it, so I changed it back.

I don't know why eBay stopped giving away from listings.  in the end, it's just taking money from their pocket and putting it in someone else's.
