Every negative feedback I have received has been on vintage hats and shirts. Buyers who don't contact me or complain and just leave negative feedback. Got my first long form negative and you would think they would have asked to return or asked for a partial refund...instead, they leave a short story of how I had a misleading post on a 20 year old white t-shirt. I messaged back and forth with them and told them every slight flaw I saw. They purchased it.
I do think feedback is still important for eBay, but buyers like this are pretty annoying

Dealing with retentive personalities who feel empowered by leaving negative feedback is just part of retail. It was even worse for me when I had my brick and mortar retail store and known affectionately on Yelp as "Mr. Rude".

I looked to see and you have free returns, so I agree with you. Did you message them to see if they would return the item and possibly change the fb?

I've never received a negative 😁, even one I had to fix. Just lucky I guess.

Yeah, they should have just returned the shirt for a full refund BUT...your photos didn't really highlight any flaws , are kind of blurry and not well lit. In your response to their negative feedback you said you mentioned the stain in the description, but you didn't. You also didn't mention any stains in your description. Your description simply states "Good used condition - see all photos"

Unfortunately, there is no eBay rule requiring the buyer to contact the seller first before opening a case.

EBAY will remove it. If you offer free returns, the buyer has recourse to return and get refunds and Ebay stands by sellers on this. They will remove it. That's the best reason to offer free returns.

Offering free returns has nothing to do with negative feedback being removed; the neg has to fall under one of the qualifications for removal as stated in policy.

As others stated, you can't force buyers to contact or return before leaving neg feedback (although I believe they are 'held up' from doing it to TRS the first 7 days?)
But more importantly:
1.) selling a 'used' shirt with stains? Should've been used to wax the car and never listed to be sold with stains, especially 'pit stains'?? (that's simply gross and I have many old white shirts with NO 'pit stains' (shower daily, dry type pit juice, spray n wash)
2.) You basically "agreed" that it had stains by just stating they 'could've contacted you and returned it'. So again, if it's GOT stains- you need to STATE that CLEARLY (and again- how gross).

Why not just apologize profusely and refund promptly without requiring a return?
Then, AFTER that action, you could have (a) asked if the seller would revise the FB or (2) replied by stating that you apologized and offered to refund without expecting a return.

Excellent advise OP.
State you thought you disclosed it in the listing, mwant to, mea culpa, mea culpa.
Own it and earn a repeat Buyer and one who will likely remove the red ink.
Good luck. Stuff happens.

I have tried to go that route and the buyer did NOT revise the feedback.

I am sorry you got a negative
there are many buyers who complain abut sellers who gets off scott free because thy had a negative removed
buyers know how the game is played just as you do
the buyer wants the neg to stick and took the correct steps to make it happen

Vintage 1 of a kind shirts sell with horrible stains, which, yes is gross, but why not sell something that will make you money?

I have not, because I have tried that for the 10 negative feedbacks I have ever received and it has not worked 1 time
