I can't find any resource that tells you exactly how raising your fixed add rate percentage benefits your sale. It's logical that the more you give to ebay the more they'd somehow promote it more, but there's no metric or info that covers exactly what they do.....or it could all be just a gimmick all together.
Any thoughts and experiences? Thanks

My take on it is slightly different: I believe PL accentuates what you already have going on. If you have higher demand items at a good price, increasing PL will get you more eyeballs. Pl doesn't work the same for low demand items, especily those deemed as priced too high The algorithm is not going to promote lower demand items it judges as overpriced, and is not producing sales. Pl will not fix a overpriced, long tail inventory crisis. One could promote at 100% and it wouldn't do any good as far as impressions go; well maybe if you end and sell similar. But, the end result is bogged down with frustration and no sales after a few days.
The outliers I've observed are really large stores. Many seem to get away with charging more or higher prices.

I have tried them all for months and longer. The answer is no. I increased my promo percentage from 2.1% to 25%-35% for a month. No difference in the numbers.
I have found that offering free shipping, not free return shipping, and selling in two categories in some of your listings is better. Switch up the second category. For 25¢ a listing, you get more for your money. Remember to have your main category appropriate for what you are selling.

@oldwestcoins that is a great point on using two categories when appropriate. 25 cents is a bargain compared to paying eBay per click with a priority ad campaign or paying even the minimum for a general ad campaign. I'm definitely going to review some of my listings later to consider adding a second category.
