Does seller get the money back after a closed return case?

Buyer said if I send him money, he would cancel the return request. But he didn't cancel it, he closed it. So I basically got burned for twice as much as what I tried to sell since I refunded him through venmo

You refunded outside eBay through Venmo so yeah, you got scammed for a double-refund. Sorry to tell you.

Why did you not refund through the return request instead of through Venmo?

I understand you are a new seller but what reason would you have to refund outside of eBay, if your intention was to refund the buyer? How would that be an advantage to you rather than simply refunding via the return case?

Never take anything outside of eBay. Hopefully it was not too costly of a lesson.

Well lesson learned. Never buy off a buyer for any reason. You do not say what the reason for the refund was.

Not if the buyer is refunded. Be glad they closed the case, or you might have to refund (again) through the platform.

You are permitted to exchange emails once you've had a transaction completed and only for a limited time....

Neither you nor your buyer understand how eBay works.

Or maybe he does and is betting that you, as a new seller, do not.

In any event, you need to do more reading about returns/refunds and how the whole process has to take place on eBay, not through Venmo or any other place.
