Does Using Your Cell Phone Help You with Your eBay Business?
I recently had an eBay poster attempt to mock me for using my cell phone to conduct some of my eBay business. I know I have seen other Sellers who proudly use their cell phone as a tool to aid them. Below is a list of what I do with my cell phone. Do you do the same and please share if you have more to add.
1. Prompt response to buyers’ messages when you the Seller are out and about, away from your desktop/laptop.
2. Prompt response to buyers offers when you the Seller are out and about, away from your desktop/laptop.
3. The prompt creation of shipping labels, label that can be emailed to a copier center for print, and only pay 5-ten cents per page for labels, rather than using and paying the high price of ink and/or a printer.
4. Immediate Research items while in stores, auctions, estate sales, garage sales to determine should I buy for resale.
5. The immediate creation of a listings, all while having breakfast, lunch or dinner when away from your desktop/laptop.
6. Taking pictures to download to my desktop/laptop.
So, if you got a Cell phone and you are not using it to do any of the things listed above: to run or enhance the running your online business, then you are not keeping up with the times. The efficiency aspect is a WIN WIN!

Ran out of edit time.
See pictures may be viewed with suspicion by a buyer as being an inaccurate or incomplete listing. They may wonder what is wrong with the item that the seller doesn't care to disclose but hopes you won't notice in the pictures. Ebay says that flaws need to be noted in the description.

Have you ever tried using the app to list and was your experience that you were limited to writing nothing more than "see pictures"? There are many problems with the app, but I've never heard of that one. I'd like more information about your experience - maybe I can help you figure out where things went wrong.
I have written plenty of detailed descriptions using the app. I choose not to publish listings using the app because of other problems and limitations with the listing form, but adding detailed descriptions has never been an issue.

All sellers have different lifestyles and different goals with their eBay business. My post was a mere question, so for those who are challenging or comparing what one Seller does with the use of their phone compared to another is a bit off topic.
If your topic is about your thread title Does Using Your Cell Phone Help You with Your eBay Business? A simply yes or no is all that is needed.
There is no reason to layout your 6 point opening post unless you were looking for debate and or how others use it or not.
Good Luck Selling!
If me simply posting what I do with the use of my phone provokes you into wanting to debate or challenge my use, then there is something very wrong with the air in your neighborhood.
WHEN READING THINGS THE WRONG WAY, ON PURPOSE, we call that, being passive aggressive!
Ninety-nine percent of all the other posters who simply shared/posted what they do with their phones, did not feel the need (become provoked) into making a negative or hostile comparison.

This was just an observation based on some listings I have seen that were posted using phones. Very minimal descriptions. It's not hard to conclude that the phone discouraged putting enough detail in the listing. If you choose to include sufficient detail and manage to do that, more power to you. It's just that for some reason, many don't. Of course it just may be they don't care to put more than minimal effort into the listing, and the phone has nothing to do with it.

Oh yeah, I've heard something about that! Not only phone calls, but people can listen in without even having to get a court order, either. I think I'll stay with a landline.

Understood. But one could say that saying one is out of touch with the times is making a negative or hostile comparison of those who don't choose to use it, so that sort of invites a negative or hostile response, IMO.
That coin flips both ways.
If you did not say people were out of touch with the times, then of course, my apologies.

Of course, to each his own. But I would not say that not using a phone means you are not up with the times. It just means that that is not their personal preference, and they may have very valid reasons for not using a phone. A PC lends itself better to adding much needed detail to a listing. If a description is too minimal, buyers may pass it by. Many buyers loathe, see pictures. A good description cuts down on questions so you won't need to answer quickly. A good description may increase sales as the buyer has all the info to make an immediate purchase.
Let me re-iterate: I use my Cell phone to aid and enhance my ability to sell on eBay. I do not and would not use it exclusively. If it is your opinion that those who do not use their phone to sell on eBay that they are keeping up with the times then that is your opinion, my opinion is different.
PS: Even for those who use their cell phone to simply make a call to eBay when they are out an about to get a situation remedied is by definition: Using Their Cell Phone To Help Them with Their eBay Business.
Here is my post:

You are the one who said you were mocked which was no where near what you called it and then continued to start another thread proclaiming it again, which leads me to believe you wanted to debate the subject and now you are disparaging users with who say no the phone has little value to running there eBay business. You are the provoker when you post things like this
If you do not want debate (which means there are opposing sides) not challenging as you are misrepresenting, then a simple yes or no would be fine?
I think you have gotten about 50/50% of users who find using there phone is an important tool in running there eBay business, with most using it for basic and simple tasks.
Good Luck Selling!

In your opinion. Again, it is a matter of personal preference. Saying those who prefer not to use a phone are out of touch is just as bad as someone mocking you because you do use a phone.
Again, that coin flips both ways.
There is no right way here; and someone using a phone is not superior to one who doesn't.
It seems this thread was started for vindication and you are only seeking responses that agree with you.
JMO YMMV

No, largely you are drawing that very wrong conclusion. Please stop in your willful attempts to misrepresent my post.

Anyone who has a cell phone who is not using it to do any of the things I previous listed, they simply are not keeping up with the times. It is fact, cell phones can aid you in operating your eBay business, or any business.
Here a thought for you:
While watching a video:
lets say, I saw a man/woman who was in distraught because someone called them: fat. They were beside themselves with resentment and utter disbelief that someone would call them fat. The crying person's body composition was 5"3 and 300lbs. That same man/woman, thereafter had a doctor's office visit and their doctor said: Hey, you need to lose weight, you are obese. But, still with doubt, the man/woman sought a second opinion, they went to a weight specialist, the weight specialist doctor told them: Hey, you need to lose weight, you are obese. The man/women patient went home and looked up the word obese:
o·beseadjective
grossly fat or overweight."a hugely obese young man"synonyms: fat, overweight, corpulent, morbidly obese, gross, stout, fleshy, outsize, massive, heavy, plump, portly, chubby, rotund, roly-poly, paunchy, pot-bellied, beer-bellied, big, large, ample, well upholstered, well padded, broad in the beam, bulky, bloated, flabby, Falstaffian; More
Then and only then did the man/women accept the fact, yes: I am fat, but I prefer the word obese.
The "then you are not keeping up with the times." is synonymous with: not staying current or not changing as conditions change. What is your preference, because the facts remain the same.
I certainly hope you realize that is YOUR subjective opinion.
Perhaps a person, like me, who is dyslexic, finds it 'troublesome' to not have everything in front of them while they work, but still has a current and successful business. Perhaps someone with vision problems has trouble seeing a smaller screen - however, they can write a script for a currently popular, high grossing movie on a typewriter.
Please explain to me just how that is not keeping up with the times.

With all due respect, if you were not only interested in opinions that match yours, the statement you are out of touch with the times would never have been made. No willful misrepresentation on my part.
My points have been made and stand. Again, my apologies to you if you did not make the statement that people are out of touch if they do not use their phone.
However, you did make that statement.
Carry on.

The coin flips both ways. You misrepresented my post in your original thread. I actually was belittling my own knowledge of how to operate eBay business from a phone and you replied with a scolding tone and called me a disparaging name and carried it over to another thread with additional disparaging comments.
Good Luck Selling!

Were you aware that an ebay business CAN be run without any cell phone use? For ANY aspect of it? And, that it can be done successfully? Without any inconvenience?
If that is way someone wishes to do it, why should they be berated? You do what works for you and others do what works for them.
Ya know, a lot of people ride a bicycle to work and on errands, besides for pleasure and exercise. The bicycle was around before the car, or train, or bus, or subway, etc. Are they out of touch with modern times?
