Does Using Your Cell Phone Help You with Your eBay Business?
I recently had an eBay poster attempt to mock me for using my cell phone to conduct some of my eBay business. I know I have seen other Sellers who proudly use their cell phone as a tool to aid them. Below is a list of what I do with my cell phone. Do you do the same and please share if you have more to add.
1. Prompt response to buyers’ messages when you the Seller are out and about, away from your desktop/laptop.
2. Prompt response to buyers offers when you the Seller are out and about, away from your desktop/laptop.
3. The prompt creation of shipping labels, label that can be emailed to a copier center for print, and only pay 5-ten cents per page for labels, rather than using and paying the high price of ink and/or a printer.
4. Immediate Research items while in stores, auctions, estate sales, garage sales to determine should I buy for resale.
5. The immediate creation of a listings, all while having breakfast, lunch or dinner when away from your desktop/laptop.
6. Taking pictures to download to my desktop/laptop.
So, if you got a Cell phone and you are not using it to do any of the things listed above: to run or enhance the running your online business, then you are not keeping up with the times. The efficiency aspect is a WIN WIN!

Yes I do many of those things to. But I also use phone for photos. And I did not know you could print shipping labels from phone to copy center thereby saving on ink. Thank you.

I'm so very sorry for you.

A mini computer that can improve the quality of your life is you know how to use it.
It can generate income for you.
It can protect you via use of your video record feature.
It can save you money, via instant coupons and whatnot.
In response to another poster, ...............................................................you have to be civilized to use one.
civilizedadjective
1.at an advanced stage of social and cultural development."a civilized society"synonyms: enlightened, educated, advanced, developed, cultured"a civilized society"
Also there's another hidden function that many with cell phones don't know about. You can make phone calls with it.

Actually, that question was only the introduction to your post.
The conclusion that you drew at the end was to tell anyone who wasn't using their cell phone for eBay was "not keeping up with the times".
You were not just asking a question, you were also offering your value judgement about future responses.

I sell vintage collectibles and there is no way I would use my iphone 6s for writing listings. Details are everything with used items. I have to check the photos I did take with my iphone on my desktop to see the details of the photos enlarged. Even camera angle can have a big impact upon what the desktop buyer will see. Sometimes I have even found flaws on an item by looking at the closeups of the photos I took, flaws that I missed with my naked eye on an item not blown up larger than life size like ebay zoom.
I also like the desktop for seeing clearly every detail of the fields on the listing form. I do not want the procedure simplified, because I may then miss something important, something like say, this listing will be relisted 8 times, or something like add bold to my listing title, or best offer, or whatever box ebay decides to check this week without forewarning sellers.
That said, it is very interesting to see the approach different sellers use and what works for them. Whatever we each are comfortable with. There is no right or wrong here. I have learned I can send labels from my phone to my printer; using the wifi for that has never crossed my mind until this thread.

My exact statement: "So, if you got a Cell phone and you are not using it to do any of the things listed above: to run or enhance the running your online business, then you are not keeping up with the times. The efficiency aspect is a WIN WIN! "
Anyone who has a cell phone who is not using it to do any of the things I previous listed, they simply are not keeping up with the times. It is fact, cell phones can aid you in operating your eBay business, or any business.
Here a thought for you:
While watching a video:
lets say, I saw a man/woman who was in distraught because someone called them: fat. They were beside themselves with resentment and utter disbelief that someone would call them fat. The crying person's body composition was 5"3 and 300lbs. That same man/woman, thereafter had a doctor's office visit and their doctor said: Hey, you need to lose weight, you are obese. But, still with doubt, the man/woman sought a second opinion, they went to a weight specialist, the weight specialist doctor told them: Hey, you need to lose weight, you are obese. The man/women patient went home and looked up the word obese:
Then and only then did the man/women accept the fact, yes: I am fat, but I prefer the word obese.
The "then you are not keeping up with the times." is synonymous with: not staying current or not changing as conditions change. What is your preference, because the facts remain the same.

I'm with you, lucky.
When I had a brick and mortar store I was tied to it for far too many hours, but when I locked the door each evening - I didn't carry it home with me. I was only available to buyers during store hours so I see no need to be available to eBay customers 24/7.
The thought of using a smart phone during meals or other family time, while driving or even walking, or sleeping with it under my pillow to me is laughable - and unhealthy as well. The only time a smartphone is used during our family time is to settle disputes. Being tied to a computer 3-4 hours per day is enough for most folks.

Which is the real attempt at mockery, not what was said in the other thread.

Your eBay store is open 24/7. The topic is: Does Using Your Cell Phone Help You with Your eBay Business?
All sellers have different lifestyles and different goals with their eBay business. My post was a mere question, so for those who are challenging or comparing what one Seller does with the use of their phone compared to another is a bit off topic.

My phone is 50% or more the tool of choice.
Most pictures, messages, offers....usually done on the phone 12-18 hours of the day.
I use a laptop to list, a scanner printer for the rest of my pictures and for labels.
I couldn't do this job at all without a phone.

No, not really.

If your topic is about your thread title Does Using Your Cell Phone Help You with Your eBay Business? A simply yes or no is all that is needed.
There is no reason to layout your 6 point opening post unless you were looking for debate and or how others use it or not.

While I respect your opinion, I think many feel the app is problematic and limited, and you can achieve better results on a PC. Better options available that way.
Of course, to each his own. But I would not say that not using a phone means you are not up with the times. It just means that that is not their personal preference, and they may have very valid reasons for not using a phone. A PC lends itself better to adding much needed detail to a listing. If a description is too minimal, buyers may pass it by. Many buyers loathe, see pictures. A good description cuts down on questions so you won't need to answer quickly. A good description may increase sales as the buyer has all the info to make an immediate purchase.

No... I value my eyesight. It's bad enough from PC use over the years.
Staring at the world through a 2.5" x 4.5" portal strains it even worse.
