I've never heard that- but you never know what goes into eBay search algorithms. eBay isn't forthcoming about that information- plus it's constantly changing so what may have been true last month could be different today.
Personally I give to charities independently- not through my eBay listings.

I doubt it, that is not the intent.
The intent is twofold.....
1 - Because the seller wants support a worthy cause
2 - Because potential buyers might spend more if they also want to support a worthy cause
If you really want to increase your visibility then simply lower your prices (and of course list good quality in demand items).

Are you asking whether eBay give preference to listings that benefit a charity? I have never heard that.
Are you asking whether buyers are more likely to buy a listing if it benefits a charity? I suspect that that would vary greatly between buyers.
But even if those both did help an item sell, IMHO the benefit would negligible compared to the big three - what you are selling, how you have priced it, and how well you listed it.

May not help your visibility, but it could improve the likelihood of a sale. ebay does show buyers the charity you're giving too, and this could influence some buyers to purchase your product instead of a competitors.

It depends on how well off everyone is and the purpose. If you are contributing to charities that fight off corona virus, maybe it helps. If you are just contributing to general eBay Charities in this economy when 3.3m Americans are filing for unemployment, then I really don't think it will help you much, if any at all. While I don't have proven charity listing experience, as an eBay buyer, I try to stay away from those listings because I come to eBay to buy things of value and to me charity listings tend to be overpriced. I contribute to charities by giving Goodwills things that are too bulky to ship/sell.
