Do you ever get tired of the price begging?

MSRP: $42.00

My price: $35.00 with free shipping

Make Offer: disabled

Other eBay sellers' pricing: $32.00 - $52.00, shipping varies

Competitive venue pricing: $32.00 - $58.00, shipping varies

Sold prices on eBay: $32.00 - $46.00

Shopper sends message: Will you take $18.00

If you want to pay $18.00, go find a used one and good luck with that because used ones are priced $22 and up right now with variable shipping.

I get several messages just like this every day. A lot of sellers do. I know it's part of the eBay culture, but it really gets old. I'm pretty sure those of you reading, whether you feel the same as I do or not, will understand where I'm coming from. Just getting the complaint out of my system so I can get on with some merry festivities tonight.

Offers like these I just usually ignore and move on and yes they do get tiresome.  Enjoy your festivities and Happy Holidays. wine_glass Cheers!

I try to reply nicely and move on. I do not give them any space in my head . Remember there are not an unlimited number of buyers so I try not to " burn the bridge"

I thank them for their interest and tell them my listings aren't set up to accept offers. They don't take space in my head aside from occasionally getting tired of how much time I spend each week responding to them.

I know some sellers ignore, but I reply because sometimes these shoppers are taking a shot in the dark and when I politely say no, they buy at full price without any issues.

A lot of them have been replying lately by saying, "thanks, most sellers don't respond." Kinda has me wondering: if sellers are ignoring their lowballs, why do they keep doing it? Are enough sellers so desperate for sales that they're giving away their product, making it worth it for these people to spend their time begging for free product?

I charge higher prices on the River and never once has a shopper there asked me for a lower price. They either buy or they don't. Different marketplace, different buyer-seller culture.

I never get tired of it because I don't do it.

I have a simple cut and paste answer:

NO.

Yes, it is tiring and annoying.  Like being on the beach in Cabo (minus the beach, waves and sun and atmosphere...lol)

Hate haggling, so I don't.  🙃

You should answer:

Yes, I'll take $18 + $17 finders fee + shipping.  Perfect pricing!

I sell on another site which is a lot of haggling.  Most offers are reasonable and I'm fine with haggling (it's part of the culture there), but I got several in the last two days all wanting 60-70% off asking.  My prices to begin with are extremely reasonable.  My eyeballs almost got stuck from rolling them, but really, people are gonna ask.

In my head I always think, "sure, I'll take $18 if you're handing it out," because the messages usually say, "will you take $18," with no mention of the product for sale.

I've had a few on here over the years but I am not listing much that goes for an amount that can be haggled.

When I install fences I sometimes get customers who think they can negotiate my rates if they "help".  lol

I carry a post card from an auto shop for times like these.

Regular rate: $50 Per Hour

If you Watch: $60 Per Hour

If you ask questions: $70 Per Hour

If you help or get near my tools:  $100 Per Hour

I did get "smart" with my reply to this one buyer last year. They sent a message on a $30 item with the number 9 - no dollar sign, no text, just the number 9. I replied and said something like:

Hey, thanks for the message.  The manufacturer doesn't make this widget in a 9 inch size. This listing is for the 10 inch model, or if you want an 8 inch model you can check out my other listing here (link).

The funniest part is the buyer replied and this time they said: $9

The number 9 is the apex of experience and wisdom, and is symbolic of endings and beginnings.  It is the expression of the spirit of the infinite, rather than the symbol.

You could have told him that and wished him the very best on his journey to enlightenment.  He would never have bothered you again.

Do you ever get tired of the price begging?

Due to the hyperinflation, rising postage and shipping costs, enormous gasoline prices, and shrinking supplies I am unable to reduce the price and considering raising it soon. Please accept my apologies.
