Do you ever get tired of the price begging?

MSRP: $42.00

My price: $35.00 with free shipping

Make Offer: disabled

Other eBay sellers' pricing: $32.00 - $52.00, shipping varies

Competitive venue pricing: $32.00 - $58.00, shipping varies

Sold prices on eBay: $32.00 - $46.00

Shopper sends message: Will you take $18.00

If you want to pay $18.00, go find a used one and good luck with that because used ones are priced $22 and up right now with variable shipping.

I get several messages just like this every day. A lot of sellers do. I know it's part of the eBay culture, but it really gets old. I'm pretty sure those of you reading, whether you feel the same as I do or not, will understand where I'm coming from. Just getting the complaint out of my system so I can get on with some merry festivities tonight.

I used to use that answer when I did swap meets years ago. I sure got some looks and then they would go away scratching their heads.            It is a good one , peace be with you.

Do you ever get tired of the price begging?

Hi,  I asked on a different venue for $1.00 lower than they had it. I just had enough in my Pay-pal to by it at that price.  They answered NO.  So. I looked for the same item & bought it with my charge card for $5.00 more. I just did not like "NO"  as an answer. If they would have said NO Sorry I would have got my charge card out to buy it from them.  Maybe try to add a word or more to your No when you answer people. Just an idea for you.

It makes it easier to know who to add to your Blocked Bidder list.

I have seen many sellers in these boards that say the buyer left them poor feedback after they refused to accept a low-ball offer and the buyer bought the item full price.

We would have to see one of your listings that you say is worth xx amount and buyer is asking the lower amount. With that said, Ebay has always been a haggling site, it is not like Amazon set price and no haggling. Either use fixed price with no best offer option or deal with hagglers.

I understand 10-15-20 percent off some of the items, but when buyers want it 50-90 percent off - bzzzz. Just decline and move on.

There are quite a few collectables sellers who accept best offers, and seem to double price their items.

I guess because they are hoping someone will pay that, and because they will probably be offered half of that anyway.

It is kind of a turn off. I have offered half maybe once I can remember,  it was for a broken parts unit.

10-20% off is reasonable and usually accepted without complaint, or will be auto accepted.

There is no doubt that way too many sellers park over priced inventory here.

The funny thing is that the folks that offer the least will have the most complaints over the item they got such a good deal on.

Keep walking...

IMO it is not part of eBay's culture, at least not anymore, these self entitled fools must think no one else is suffering in this financial climate.

I would not waste anytime responding to something like this, mainly because I would get booted off eBay quick smart if I responded in the way these tossers deserve.

Just say no and put them on your BBL.

So you could have used your charge card anyway, not sure what to make of that. Remember offer's are welcome if the seller has Best Offer listed, but to just send an offer in a message to seller is called unsolicited and is what the OP is referring to.

Also - seller's take the sob stories [disabled, just lost my job, 27 kid's to feed etc]with a grain of salt, because they are  most likely never true.

If someone is that hard up, I fail to see why they are wasting money shopping for widgets on eBay.

I sell mostly music, records, tapes and CDs. I have best offer on everything and I don't mind if something is 20 or 30 dollars and somebody wants to make on offer I usually will respond to a possible buyer but when somebody wants a 3 dollar item marked down I just shake my head and ignore. If you think a few bucks is too expensive then I really don't need your business. Especially since I charge almost exact cost on shipping.

Media mail is like $3.82 plus $1.00 for the cost of the shipping box plus to cardboard fillers for protection. I get nothing extra from shipping. It frustrates me as I have about 40 listings I can send offers to. All in the 3 buck price point.

Remove BO from the low price items then you don't need to deal with it 🙂

I get this once in a while, too.

For my most expensive new items (which are around $100-180). I get a message saying: "I am on a fixed income, and want this ($180) item for $60."

I am pretty sure those beggars think ebay sellers are super rich and sell because of nothing else to do with those items and their time  😄

Do you ever get tired of the price begging?

If I get really low ball offers and the I am on fixed income, disabled, cannot feed my kids, cannot feed my dog, I do not respond. Would like to say, if this is true why do your need my item, but that would go down not too good so ignore.

A lot of them are super rich because they buy and sell the stuff others give away. LOL!
