And down the tubes went that sale.
The message from the now-blocked buyer is in ebay mail and I assume using that reason is a-okay. No hidden tricks or little man jumping out from behind the curtain ?

Once upon a time, selling was more fun.
Worry takes the fun out of selling.

Nice float if you can get it:
You'll get a final value fee credit in your account within 24 hours. You can apply it toward listing more items to sell on eBay.
24 hours ?

Perfectly fine. I personally wouldn't block someone over a one-time cancellation. People can have valid reasons. But that is me. I know lots of other people feel differently. To me, shopping is not an exact science. Better to realize a mistake before the item is shipped than to be unhappy once it arrives.

If the buyer asked to cancel in his message, you will be fine doing so.
As to giving the refund, Paypal does keep the 30 cent fee. It is in their user agreement. Hopefully you weren't paid yet.

I just had that happen and it was no big deal. Who hasn't hit the buy button on something and then realized they made a mistake! She emailed right away, I put in a buyer cancel, PayPal only kept 30 cents and I relisted it. Then I sold it again for 5 dollars more..... It happens.
