Do sellers get data on auto-rejected Make Offers?

I just sent in a Make Offer on a listing that has a full price by the seller that is way over a realistic price for the thing. My offer was based on their average selling price but it came back immediately as an auto-reject.

Okay - fine - he can charge what he wants so I will look elsewhere. But its a 30-day listing so I will check back later to see if he lowers the price. Mainly I was just wondering if the seller is able to see what kind of offers are getting auto-rejected. I know my offer is realistic and he will probably get others in the same range. Is it possible for him to see what offers are being turned down and how many offers he was getting in that range? Now that I have made an offer on it will I get a heads up from Ebay if he does lower his asking price?

.....I haven't yet found a way for me to let the buyer know, it doesn't allow me to message them directly.....

You see their ID when they make an offer so if you want to contact them just click on their feedback number and then contact member.

Thanks but I've tried that and it didn't go through. Perhaps I did it wrong then. I'll try again the next time. I just wanted to let the person know I lowered my minimum and would accept their offer but it kept rejecting me from doing so.

Hmm...I’ve never tried it to be honest so perhaps there is some sort of block that prevents it.

Your decision to wait is a wise one.

Makes me laugh because I've had this happen to me twice now. I saw an item that I wanted but the price was too high so I made an offer. Offer was countered two dollars less. We went back and forth for the 3-4 times you are permitted but seller refused to lower price anymore. I finally ran out of times to make an offer and moved on but kept the item in my watch list.

First time this happened that item sat for over a year with no bites. Seller finally lowered price to the amount I had originally offered, not my counteroffer. I went back and purchased it but didn't bother to point out who I was the same person who made the offer from a year ago.

Second time, with a different seller, same scenario. Seller wouldn't come down more than three dollars. I ran out of offers and did the same thing to monitor the item. Again took over a year but seller finally lowered the price to my offer, my counteroffer this time. I went and purchased it but again didn't mention who I was.

They stick to their guns but so do I. They want the sale in the end and will always come down eventually. I am a very patient person but I usually win....
