I sold a buyer an item and instead of contacting me, the buyer ambushed me with negative feedback. I’ve been an eBayer since 1998, this is my first negative. I’ve tried contacting the buyer to implore him to reveal to me what would make him happy. I didn’t even mention the negative feedback, I just want to know how I can reverse his dissatisfaction. He has yet to respond to my futile attempts. Where do I go from here?

I believe the use of the word replica here is due to one of the many pitfalls of using AI to generate item descriptions, it doesn’t know that the word “replica” has a negative connotation on here.
I think in this case it may have been used in the sense of “scale replica” as in miniature replica of a scenicruiser bus.

Part of this is, in fact, the misnomer of "replica" and the context it is used in the description....a lot of legitimate diecast's have the word right on the box....
@gone.c-33 is on the right track....and the judicious use of iyem specifics and a lot os pics helps eliminate issues/misunderstandings like this...

Sorry this happened to you.
Some days it appears the number of nasty buyers has multiplied like dandelions in late June.
I am grateful for the super nice buyers I deal with on a daily basis.
Give some thought before you reply to the neg. Something along the lines of "we stand behind our products and are happy to resolve any issue when a buyer contacts us" - keep it short and friendly as other potential customers may look at that negative before buying from you.
Best of luck!

How can I find that out?

Go to the buyer's Feedback page and select the Left for Others tab to see what kind of feedback he leaves for other buyers or sellers.
You have to be on a laptop/desktop to see the Feedback Left for Others. That is not available in the mobile app.

Your items will sell for the holidays.
A negative feedback'...there is always going to be one bad apple in the bunch.
You only get like 10 days for a revision.
Of note: I have a few Chinese items similar which say 'Made in China' and have Chinese character writing on them. Might want to take photos of location of where is made which should be somewhere on the item.

Thanks for providing the most prescriptive solution. While the others were helpful, your feedback was rather direct and blunt. I respond well to direct and blunt. I wrote a one-page postmortem on this disaster. Thank you for your help.

Helpful thought, thank you.
And I totally forgot how great Year of the Cat was!

Thanks for the feedback, but most diecast items are made in either China, Maylasia or Taiwan.

No one ambushed you with feedback. eBay asked for the buyers opinion, he gave it. He wasn’t satisfied with the transaction – enough that he left a negative. Seriously, many buyers just want to be able to give their feedback on a transaction – they don’t want a penpal, they don’t want to go back-and-forth, They might just want to be done with it. Just move on – one neg won’t kill you.
