Dispute Resolution

I sold a buyer an item and instead of contacting me, the buyer ambushed me with negative feedback.  I’ve been an eBayer since 1998, this is my first negative.  I’ve tried contacting the buyer to implore him to reveal to me what would make him happy. I didn’t even mention the negative feedback, I just want to know how I can reverse his dissatisfaction.  He has yet to respond to my futile attempts.  Where do I go from here?

I am sorry but this listing was a disaster waiting to happen - so it did. I am looking at the listing but it has only 3 photos: angle on the front - angle on the back - left side. No photos at all of the right side. No photos of the underside. There are no Item Specifics to state its age - model number - or even what scale it is. There are no dimensions given. No photo of the packaging. The description text is the usual ridiculous AI 'must-have' description that conveys nothing useful that a buyer might want to know.

I would offer to take it back for a full refund and send him a label if he agrees. Do not suggest a feedback revision until after you have the bus back and he has his refund.

When you relist it take a LOT more photos from all angles. Take measurements. For God's sake stop using AI descriptions and just put the information in your own words. Write what you would say if the buyer was standing in front of you. Good luck.

Nothing you can do. Stop trying to contact. 1 Neg won't hurt you.

Re: Dispute Resolution

Want to make sure we understand what happened before offering advice.

Are you saying you listed an item, then drop-shipped from another eBay seller - had them ship directly to your buyer and you never physically had the product?

Basing this on your comment to the buyer, "I did purchase this from another individual on eBay, but I was told it came in a plain white box."

Re: Dispute Resolution

You can still continue trying to contact the buyer since this was a fairly recent purchase.  He appears to believe this was a knockoff and evidently expected to receive the box.

Re: Dispute Resolution

This buyer was unaware of the fact that the National Transportation Museum (NTM) markets various products that are manufactured by well-known diecast model companies.  In this case Corgi manufactured this model that was being sold by me, but it was packaged in a plain white box with the Corgi model number and description lithographed on the outside of the box.  I told the buyer, if he were to look on the bottom of the model, he would clearly see the Corgi logo.

It was/is a knockoff/replica. The following is from the OP's post description. But if it did not  have the box in contradicts the condition on the listed item shown below.

"This Corgi Greyhound Scenicruiser Destination Philadelphia GM 4501 Die Cast Replica is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts of transportation memorabilia. Made in China, this collectible item is a perfect addition to any collection of buses and taxi cabs. The attention to detail in the design and construction of this die-cast replica ............"

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item (including handmade items). See the seller's listing for full details. See all condition definitions

Re: Dispute Resolution

I don't give refunds.  However, in this case I would if the buyer would request it.  But he has not responded.

You just ignore and move on.  That one neg will have no impact on your future sales.

You will never know what happened unless the buyer tells you.

You have asked, but your buyer does not seem interested in telling you.

Let it go and move on.

Re: Dispute Resolution

Hi @jimmies_diecast . A bit confused, but I think the question here is —was this a replica as you defined in the listing, and not an original product made by the Corgi manufacturer? If so, replicas (as in fakes, counterfeits, and knock-offs) are not allowed to be listed on eBay (see link below). I am surprised your listing was not reported or flagged since the word “replica” is in the title.

It seems your buyer’s dissatisfaction lies, at least in part,  in the fact he questions the authenticity of the item. It appears he did not read the listing carefully which happens all the time.

BTW, a logo on an item is not proof of authenticity or legitimacy. All knock-offs employ the use of branded designs, logos and other copyright marks.

This is a tough one and I am not enough of an expert on CORGI so not sure if this is a knock-off or if it is in fact a replica/re-release by CORGI who now has their manufacturing for a lot of their items in China. One of the big issues with items that are manufactured by companies is the designs leak and the next thing you know some counterfeit company in China is making them.

With the new messaging system who knows if the buyer even saw the message or could find it in the current mucked up format.
