Re: Discrimination

As the laws in China are totally different than the US, I am not sure what the ACLU, BBB or any lwayer can do about Chinese sellers.

But by all means do let us now how you get on - I suppose you have read the entire TOS that eBay has you agree to when you sign up regarding arbitration - make sure you have those TOS handy as the ACLU, BBB and a lawyer will need to read them

Re: Discrimination

@mymainesqueezeMany of the terms we are required to agree to on ebay are not the same as ebay requires in other countries. I couldn't figure out how sellers from China could have over 100 negative feedbacks and still be allowed to operate. Or how they can ship items for $3 from China to the US. ebay does make thing harder on US based sellers. Our government also gives breaks to sellers based in other countries, making it even harder for us to compete. As mentioned, you have to agree to the Terms of Service on ebay when you create your account

Re: Discrimination

Lots of medical type items require a specialized ebay qualification to sell, usually a B&M related business.  I think it's a good thing.   I wouldn't be comfortable buying masks from somebody who might breed ferrets in their garage.  Some pandemic related items are under scrunity for price gouging too.

Re: Discrimination

It must be nice to be independently wealthy, so as to have the time and the financial resources to a pursue complex legal action against a international megacorporation over something as inconsequential as the sale of a box of paper face masks.  Even the rich need a hobby, though, so have fun.

Meanwhile it's feet on the ground, shoulder to the wheel, and nose to the grindstone for the likes of me.  (And, yes, the contortions involved are ache-inducing.)

Re: Discrimination

Sorry your Thursday os not starting out well.

There is a long list of items the "average" seller still cannot list or sell due to covid.  You have to be pre-approved and e-Bay is not re-instating these items for the average Seller anytime soon.  They also stopped adding new Sellers to sell them over 15 months ago, due to price gouging.

What would your profit have been on 1 box of masks?  $5 after fees?  I do not think the ACLU would engage for 1 item, even if you had a warehouse full.

You might wish to hang onto the masks for yourself or donate them.  The Delta variant is really spreading quickly.

Re: Discrimination

...masks are everywhere...

...and a new hobby is starting as mask collectors...I knew someone...(included...me...!!!)

...funny how before the virus matter, no one can enter a bank with face covering, sunglasses or hat...now everybody hide their faces behind the mask...oh, and it's almost pointless to ask for ID from a masked person, even when one offered to remove mask for identification, the bank tellers refused...

Re: Discrimination

Ebay denied me from selling PPE also.  They gave me specific reasons why they would not approve me ...... but now i;m thinking it's discrimination!  Would you like to join me in a high class action lawsuit?

Re: Discrimination

You are 100% about the foreign sellers. US laws and prohibitions do not apply however most countries have restrictions on items that can be sold within or imported to their country. Also remember US sellers are in the minority here since about 60% of eBay's sale revenue comes from foreign market sellers and that percentage is rising rapidly.

Re: Discrimination

One reason it is so cheap to ship from China is because the USPS established shipping service agreement with eBay China and Hongkong Post, allowing packages from China and Hong Kong to receive first-class mail service along with tracking confirmation services. This shipping method, ePacket is a quick and affordable solution, making shipping from China to the United States way cheaper. In the past few years, ePacket shipping has grown and expanded into 35 other countries.

The U.S. Postal Service rates are continuously increasing, but Chinese sellers are still able to ship their products thousands of miles away at the lowest price.

"Or how they can ship items for $3 from China to the US"

USPS and China have an agreement for there to be a shipping method called ePacket that's ridiculously cheap.
