Did you know that some sellers apparently have a special "compter system" where they can check on USPS tracking numbers for a tracking status such as "moving along" even though the USPS site shows the item has not been shipped yet.
"I have checked our computer systems and it shows that your package is moving along. Please let me provide you with a tracking information below to better help you keep track of the order."
This has to do with my post "What should i do about this seller" on the buying board.

Should anyone's database have more traking info than the USPS?

Certainly the USPS has info that isn't shown to us, that employees can read......whether this guy has "a friend" that can access that or not.......hard to tell.......

Have not checked the other thread, but I suspect it is just a seller that thinks buyers are clueless😊

If you go to the post office, they can look up things on their 'Intranet' - their own computer system - that you won't find on their website or the Internet. Anything from tracking to copies of money orders to anything dealing with their entire operation.

Not sure if this is valid specifically to that buyer’s issue... but as others mentioned USPS can get more detailed info on tracking. But there are times I called the 800 number and get a rep saying they can only see exactly what I see online (probably an agent who is untrained or just trying to get rid of me).
I have also noticed that sometimes I see that eBay’s pop up tracking info has more information than USPS tracking page does. I also notice this sometimes with my stamps.com tracking window pop ups. Perhaps it has to do with the 3rd party API pulling up tracking.
