Demanding Buyer - Negative Feedback

Sorry for duplicate post in wrong area, tried to delete first message....

I don't know where to even start with my situation.   I have been selling on here since Ebay opened.....   Perfect Feedback until this week.   Sold an item (Agreed to $15)...   Apparently the ring "opens" and turns into a toy microscope.   (Had I known it opened, I would have photo'd pics of it open)...  Apparently buyer knew more than I did and apparently its value is over $80 complete.   Had they told me to "open it and send photos" we would have all realized that a plastic tube was missing....  To make a long story longer....   I paid free shipping on $15....  returned item (no returns)....  paid shipping back.....  refunded the $15.....  only to get NEGATIVE FEEDBACK from an item that sold almost 40 days ago....   I contacted Ebay, to no avail.   I responded to Feedback and it only made things worse...   I sent the most polite message for  a feedback revision, and it backfired.....  What a nightmare.....   I rely on 100% Positive Feedback as a selling point to give my buyers confidence....   really bummed!    over $15 that I REFUNDED and paid shipping both ways....  😞    Only limited reply space for feedback.  hard to state what happens in 20 characters... lol.

god bless all sellers....   keep fighting the good fight....   HUGE DROP IN SALES from November to Now...  -80%

I'm sorry that happened, but you still have a great feedback record.

Your buyer is angry because of the money he is now NOT going to make when he resells the item. Money he had already mentally, put in his bank account. Thus, you received the brunt of that phantom profit anger.  When one sells to a broker, there are actually TWO buyers, you must satisfy. The one who purchases from you, and the one who purchases from them. You are their insurance that their customer will be made happy, When they resell.

Many of us have survived getting bad feedback.  One negative should not hurt your selling ability, but just be aware that your follow-up is generally more important to future buyers than the initial bad feedback.

Another note, in case you didn't know, it is against ebay policy to give the buyer the feedback you did.  It also made it sound like you are saying the ring was fine, but the buyer damaged it and was dishonest.

Oh, soooo true. A number of years back I sold an item that the buyer was delighted with.  However, the person that she resold it to, was not. So rather than her take the hit of the return, she forwarded that honor on to me.. .. Not exactly cricket, bur what could I do?  I was under her thumb. .

And now, with the buyer replying to the OP's reply, it looks ten times worse than it would have with just the buyer's original negative comment.

IMO, the "God Bless You" was especially, well, inappropriate--especially after "ripping" the buyer.
