Deficit appeal

I have a defect on my account that has kept me below standard for the last evaluation period.  When I checked the defect it said it’s for no resolution.  This transaction I shipped the wrong item, but once the buyer notified me I offered a refund, the correct item, to keep the incorrect item.  I was doing everything in my power to fix the issue.  It ended with the buyer shipping the wrong item to me, I shipped the right item to him.  I had some defects previously that had brought my account to below standard and I have corrected some things to help with the issues I was having.  In January I expected my account to go back to above standard but it didn’t.  I contacted eBay and they informed me that it would be February, so I waited.  February  my account still below standard.  In November 2021 I was charged with a deficit for the wrong item case no resolution.  I have been going round and round with the live chat to get this removed, because obviously this has been resolved.  The customer received the item they paid for.  I would just like to talk to someone, this chat stuff is for the birds.  They can never do anything, and they never understand what you’re talking about until 30 min into the conversation.  I am punished for my shoddy effort, deservedly so, but eBay refuses to correct a mistake they made.

You're not going to get  a defect if you accept the return and provide a return label

You said you offered a replacement and for them to keep the wrong item.  Then why were they returning the item? Did they ask eBay for help? Did they escalate the case when no tracking number showing you sent a replacement was put in the case.?  If they did then eBay decides no resolution or unresolved by the seller.

I sent the buyer the replacement tracking number.  The correct item was delivered as acknowledged by the buyer.  It stated a case was opened on Dec 12 and closed on Dec13.  I finally reached eBay  and they agreed, after about the 4th time communicating with them, that the defect was not warranted for this case.  They are removing the defect, but now my account is below standard for a month until my next evaluation on March 20.  I was told that eBay doesn’t have the ability to go back and change an accounts standing after an evaluation period.  So I’m left paying extra fees, lower listing rankings, and I can’t promote my listings.

I has the same issue with contacting ebay this morning.  They no longer are showing the options to email them or call them with a provided number.  I had to go to a chat with the virtual assistant, jump through e few hoops until I got the option "I still need help" which when clicked on was asked if I wanted a customer service agent to call me.  That worked and got a call back fairly quickly.

I did the refund.  I had to call eBay to assist in doing it, because my account wouldn’t let me.

Since this is sort-of fixed and it's not going to fix itself going forward...

The initial 'defect' depended on if the buyer opened a case and for what reason?

In this same case again, best to just 'allow return' of wrong item and tell customer when it gets back you will refund and they can simply repurchase the item again. You can also offer them some type of 'partial refund' for their troubles.

Unfortunately if you call eBay and ask for help to resolve a case, it is marked as resolved by eBay and not by the seller. I has a similar situation where the refund could only be made by eBay. I got a defect even though I called and asked for help resolving the case. I appealed the defect and it was removed. You should appeal the defect by calling or emailing them. It should be removed.

Did you and your buyer correct your error through an eBay dispute?

How does eBay know that there was a problem and that it was fixed?

The phone reps are subcontractors somewhere in Utah. They are poorly trained and have no authority, but they are good at soothing angry members while doing nothing useful.

Live Chat, Twitter, and Facebook are manned by actual eBay employees. If Chat is not working for you, try FB.

Also, try to use as much paragraphing as possible when you write to them. A wall of text is difficult to read.

I bet that having them assist counted against you when you weren't able to do it yourself.
