Defect? Accepting & Making offers in "TIME AWAY" mode

I've looked all over and can't seem to find any recent info related to this. I'm currently in Time away mode on first vacation in an epoch.  My items are not paused and are still available for sale (by design).   I also have auto message about being away. My question is: If I receive and offer while in this mode and I accept and buyer pays, does my time leverage still work or will ebay expect it to ship during my normal handling time? Additionally if I make an offer... Same question.  

I assume it's all automatically changed to reflect time away but would rather not find out the hard way that I was wrong.

If you have your account on vacation, you're okay with shipping when you return.  Ebay puts a note above the listing that the seller is away until ...

Bill is correct.  I just used Time away for 3 weeks and accepted offers.  It will delay the shipping time for you.

Is this new?  I thought if you didn't manually change your handling time and items were visible for sale, then we are expected to ship them within our normal handling times.

I think it came out with the spring update.  I know I have used it at least 3 times.  You can use it for 15 days and stlill show your items OR 30 days if you HIDE your items.  We go away for 3-4 weeks at a time.  I will either use HIDE for 10 days then change to show for 15 days....or whatever combo works.

If I am close to 15 days I will just take a hit on late shipping for a few items.

I need to go back and read that again.  I remembered they added the time again, but I didn't catch that the handling would automatically change if the items weren't hidden.  thanks

This is an old thread - it's generally better to start a new one because policies change frequently @azmusicsales.

Any offer that is accepted during Time Away is expected to ship within the handling time on your listing. Read more here.

Whether you choose to allow sales or pause them, delivery dates won't be updated for:

• Second Chance Offers
• Auto-accepted offers
• Pending counter-offers
• Seller initiated offers accepted during Time Away
• Items with local pickup, in-store pickup, or Global Shipping Program as the shipping option
• Digital items

You may want to change the shipping format or the handling times on these items while on time away.

I think that strategy is telling your potential buyer:

"I've got it. You want it. You can't have it."

And is extremely annoying, particularly if the Thing you are (refusing to) selling is a mass market item like your cameras.

 THIS IS LIVE FOLKS!!! Lol - I had the same question- previous answers STILL cloudy. Had hubby check the listing and HE saw the message above. I decided to go for it anyway because I like drama, on the next page after accepting the offer, I saw the same message. ALSO took a screen shot in case the buyer tries any shenanigans. I’ll repost if any miss deeds occur. 😉

Almost, but not quite…

It does not apply to “any”; it only applies to specific types of offers.

As  you noted the, policy applies to:

• Second Chance Offers
• Auto-accepted offers
• Pending counter-offers
• Seller initiated offers accepted during Time Away

However, note that this does not apply to Buyer initiated offers (unless the offer was auto-accepted).

A seller can also make a counteroffer to a buyer initiated offer.  The “Pending counter-offers” only applies to those that were sent prior to the seller going on vacation mode.

In both situations, the seller’s handling time begins when they come back from being away - the seller does not have to change any settings.

However, to avoid getting trapped, two things should be done as a precaution.

(1) In active listings, select <offers sent> and end all of those right before we go on vacation.  We then relist them immediately.  

(2) Remove all auto-accept offer settings.

We don’t offer second-chance offers, so I’m not familiar with that.
