Decided not to leave feedback for buyers anymore, thoughts?

When buying on eBay we leave feedback for sellers but for buyers I just don’t see the point.

There is no negative feedback for buyers and you can’t block buyers with little or no feedback. the vast majority don’t care. Leaving feedback on the eBay app is such a pain and time consuming. Not seeing a reason to do it.

If a buyer asks we will leave feedback but otherwise we don’t. Less than 1 in 100 care and everyone else knows the feedback system for buyers is meaningless and doesn’t care.

Am I missing something?

Leave a review for buyers, they will review back for you

Your choice to stop leaving feedback for buyers on eBay makes sense. The feedback system for buyers is largely ineffective since it’s always positive and doesn’t block low-feedback buyers. Few buyers care, and the process is time-consuming. While some argue it encourages good behavior or builds rapport, if it feels pointless and inefficient, skipping it is a smart move. You’re not missing much by doing so.

Re: Decided not to leave feedback for buyers anymore, thoughts?

Well just   maybe you would not  have received 2130 FB from your  buyers.  Common courtesy is not a lost art - yet.

Having  a  Feed Back  dog fight or a mud sling contest is less than  professional and serves no purpose and you just may lose a customer or converting one of those watchers in to a paid up customer.  It is much like having a case of beer muscles at that local tavern.  Don't  know too many people that  don't like a short sweet thank full for their purchase that they have paid for and want it  pronto.   Sold for a career of  41 years and sold big ticket items 5  to 6 digits items along with complimentary items of  lesser value - treated  every order/customer the  same.

Have  you  ever noticed that a  very few returns are rejected at the Customer Service counter at your local retail store like Walmart, Kroger or even  Amazon.

One more thing not all sellers are saints and try to pull the  wool over the buyers eyes.  Some some sellers rely on just the pictures to be their description  with very few  or less written description = not so professional.  eBay requires both written and picture  description - read your User Agreement and all embedded links that one  signed  & agreed to .  The best  policy is for sellers to describe their items in pictures as if there are no words and describe  the item as if there are no pictures.  Wording should be short phrases and to the point and ditch the meaningless  non descriptive wording - like amazing, awesome, cool, heavy duty, long lasting etc

I dont think you have to. But I have to say I like knowing that the seller felt the experience went well.

It's okay to stop leaving feedback for buyers on eBay, especially if it's time-consuming or not adding value. Focus on maintaining good service, as buyers rarely rely on feedback from sellers.

Re: Decided not to leave feedback for buyers anymore, thoughts?

When I got off the bus today, two of the half dozen also disembarking did not call out "thank you" to the driver.

The cashier at the dollar store ran my debit card and called "next" instead of thanking me.

When I thanked the barista for my latte, they said "no problem" instead of "you're welcome".

And only four out of six of my customers leave any feedback, even though I post FB on shipment.

What is the world coming to?

Time consuming???  way less than 30 seconds - have a "canned" response - so it  just a couple mouse moves & few clicks.  Waste more time by watching the tube or surfing thru stuff on that smarter than me phone.  Personally received  FB  on 64.5% of the 1665 items shipped on eBay and  only 1  neg.  Always  left  F/B for the buyer at the time of purchasing a shipping  label - rational:  the  buyer did  their full obligation - even if they were  late in paying - it's the sellers duties to  live up to eBays & the  buyers expectations.  Never held  leaving  FB hostage (i.e. when a sellers say  I'll give you FB when I get yours -  Junior  HS (am a 44 model) or Middle School tactic in my book and less than being professional.  Always shipped within 1 day or sooner - buyers  want their stuff now - they  paid up  - ship Pronto = increased customer satisfaction.  Sold for  41  years -on a tete-a-tete basis "learnt" that real early in the game.  A buyer makes a seller.

Re: Decided not to leave feedback for buyers anymore, thoughts?

I used to feel feedback was an important part of the whole "eBay Thing" I now consider it a real PITA.

It's not a fair or just system any more, It's just a tool that a certain section of spiteful unhinged users get a kick out of ruining people's day over. Time after time when we get a negative, we dig deeper into the user who left it and guess what? Nearly every purchase they make is a negative experience for them. I often wonder why such users continue to use eBay if their experiences are genuinely that bad, But I guess it's the fact that they can manipulate eBay C.S Agents into changing situations to their advantage, even when it does disregard eBay Policies and the law, and scare & threaten sellers into doing what they like that keeps them coming back and spoiling the site for everybody else. I dread to think how many man-hours per year eBay pays its customer service agents in relation to feedback issues. Personally, I would like to see the feedback system as it is today scrapped. If a system does have to be used then let's have one based on users' metrics, for sellers this could be, Speed of dispatch, Speed of responses to enquiries, Number of orders not delivered, ETC. For buyers this could be, Number of items not paid for, Time from committing to buy to making payment, Number of times they claim a Purchased item is not as described, Number of times they claim an order is not received, ETC. Any number of ways of measuring people's actions could be used if that's what is required to make the site work, But what we have at the moment is a biased mismatch of "users (buyers)  opinions" that has no grounding or consistency. Along with pre-written never looked at complimentary "thank you dribble" from sellers. Pull your Socks up, eBay!  You're letting everybody down.

We were at a sit down restaurant when we thanked the server a couple different times they said "of course"

instead of "you're welcome". Never heard that before, so I'm thinking what does that mean, of course I'm thankful for the service they were providing? At least I understand no problem, I use it but I don't think it's proper for a business setting.

Later I looked up replies to thank you and of course was there as an informal response along the lines of no problem.

Getting old I guess.

The other night I got a "no worries"  from a server after saying thank you.

@e-breaker

You appear to sell mostly mass produced widgets.

You also insist that buyers pay for returns.

Your responses to negative feedbacks are also unprofessional and inappropriate.

No wonder you are not a fan of feedback.

I regard feedback as vitally important -- for me, its confirmation of my dedication to customer service:  paid returns and same day shipping.

Doesn't matter what a seller thinks it is what a buyer thinks.  Do it  right the first time they  just might come back for more.  They will let you know  when you screw up.  Yeah there are people that sell that are not trustworthy too.   Betcha' a Yankee dime all eBay sellers won't got to Heaven.  Been that way  since  some one stole an apple from that apple tree in that garden.  And there were just 2 of them both wearing fig leaves & a smile as the story goes  - darn that's 50% of the total population.

How one is perceived by others means everything.  How one perceives themselves means very little.
