Dealing with a hostile buyer

I have been an Ebayer for almost 20 years, with almost 1000 positive feedbacks and 100% rating. For the first time I faced a hostile Ebay buyer which he gave me an undeliverable address which I could not send my expensive item(attempted shipping label x10). I even called Ebay agent to create the shipping label for me which he couldn't even do(further proof). The buyer blamed that it was my fault, and demanded a refund. He eventually reponded to me with profanities and infantile remark. I copied and pasted his last message to me: "WHY THE **bleep** ARE YOU STILL WRITING ME! WE ARE NOT FRIENDS, YOU ARE LIKE A TURD THAT WONT FLUSH, YOU JUST KEEP POPPING UP!!!!!! GO FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE!"

I called Ebay, the agent simply blocked him against me.  Wow, crazies are everywhere.

Whether the buyer entered a mistaken address or was trying a scam (did you use Google Maps to see what the given address was?) he is now asking for a cancellation.

This will not get better.

Refund.

Cancel.

Be ready to call Customer Service to have the negative feedback removed.

Put him on your Blocked Bidder List.

Dealing with a hostile buyer

I had one of those types awhile back and his emails were hella long and insulting.  He blamed me that he had to carry on like that and how I was wasting his time making him write to me.  He left neg after neg for sellers and when I googled his name all these hella long reviews he wrote on Yelp, etc came up.  He hates everything.  I checked him out on facebook and he looked exactly like I pictured him.

Just angry at everything.   Made me feel better and sorry for him.   I just looked at his ebay site and he still leaves neg after neg for sellers.

Anytime you deal with the public you are going to get a very small percentage of people who love to take their anger out on you just because. Bless them all.

Cancel the transaction on eBay with the reason "problem with buyer's address".

A full refund will be issued during that process, as well as final value fee credit.

Dealing with a hostile buyer

It is too bad having to stoop to his level and call any customer profane names, that was unfortunate, but I guess every one has their breaking point, when you've had enough, you can do these things yourself without calling ebay, just go to block bidders on main hub and cut and paste the buyers account name after adding a comma and there will be no problem, sorry this happened to you, but we all get them.

You're right. Although buyer had over 300 positive feedbacks, I googled his "business" address. It didn't show up.

All buyers have 100% positive feedback.

I'm not sure the OP called the customer a profane name. I think the OP copied and pasted the buyer's message to him/her which contained profanity. I don't think I see where the OP returned the insult. Maybe I misread it or missed it--can you point out where OP says she/he swore at the customer?

Yea I feel for you OP. I just made a post a few weeks ago about a buyer of mine who mistook me for another another seller that shipped them the wrong item. The buyer was rude, sarcastic, and called me profane names from the start. They were too arrogant to double check his purchase history or any check other proof I stated (like the positive feedback he left for me saying he liked my item). He just kept hounding me with name calling, thinking I was lying to him. Ultimately the guy called eBay to report me, and was told he has the wrong guy. Ebay called me telling me this, that the buyer understands that now and I should stop all communication with him. They also told me that I will probably get more messages from the buyer, and to just ignore him. I'm curious to how his phone call really went. Ebay said she was REALLY impressed how I kept it together so well my replies to all of those vulgar buyer messages.

Anyways, my point is that it might be similar to your buyer... don't be surprised how many buyers are intoxicated on alcohol or substances while talking to you. It's tough but you really have to try to turn the other cheek and just move on.

If you've been eBaying for 20 years and this really is the very first time you have run into a angry loon, I'd say you've had a pretty decent run of luck.

I wonder why the OP had to keep messaging back to the buyer. The buyer said to stop messaging and stop harassing.  I have to assume the OP got carried away instead of just cancelling and moving on.

A buyer with 300 feedback and an undeliverable address. I wonder how he got the other packages?

My address used to pop invalid in ebays system depending on what carrier the seller was using and I had a couple sellers freak out about it. But I never respondeded with profanity.
