I sold a brand new Taylormade Stealth 2 plus 5 wood, the guy used it and now wants a full refund claiming it is defective. The club in question came directly from the Taylormade tour truck and can be verified by the serial number. How can eBay force a return when a legitimate new product is now used? I lose money because the guy doesn't "like" it?

Sorry but EBAY 30-Day Money Back Guarantee (supersedes "no returns" policy) allows customer to lie and claim "not as described, counterfeit, defective, missing parts" (you will be forced to refund "purchase price + shipping BOTH ways. EBAY does NOT require customer to prove their claims. EBAY always rules in favor of the customer.

Yep, they can. No such thing as no returns selling in this venue. Just have to add a bit to your prices to cover such loss.

If you have a "No Returns" policy, you're shooting yourself in the foot. As caldreamer said, you have to refund, but if you had the 30 day return policy, at least the buyer would have to send the item back to you. Sometimes the buyer is too lazy to bother and sometimes you can resell it. At least he doesn't get to keep it.

Even with a No Returns policy you can request (from within the return itself there is an option) that the item be returned to you, should you chose not to exercise this option then the buyer will be refunded and allowed to keep the item.

Because you agreed to their terms when you decided to list the item.

I just went through a similar debacle. Sold & shipped a vintage Commodore monitor. Day it was delivered, the buyer reports its damaged & not working along with photos. Then tells me that it was damaged during shipping. It was clear this was **bleep**
Long and short, the order didn't show that it was delivered on eBay, but did on FedEx. I kept asking buyer to leave feedback to show it was delivered. After it was over 2 weeks since it was delivered, he finally left feedback.
Then it magically showed as delivered back 2 weeks prior. His feedback reported shipping damage. And the reason for his request to return was damaged during shipping.
In the end, I was forced to accept his return request. Although, it said that I should inspect what was sent for inconsistentences and report them immediately. Obviously, I did report everything and furnished photos clearly showing the entire sham.
Ebay just ignored everything and fully refunded him and charged me all shipping costs even though he chose the shipping and paid it. Since, eBay fully refunded him on my behalf and then withdrew it from my bank account as if I was responsible for the damage, FedEx denied my claim.
Ebay takes care of buyers since they make ebay more money.
Take a look into how eBay hides postings or buries them during buyer searches. Also, how they overload a person only with listings that make buyer feel like he's found a good deal when its the opposite. They do this with buyers whom present as an impulsive buyer or actually proves he is with his purchases.
Way too many smoke & mirrors on this platform

It is your responsibility prove your case. Yes a company can produce a faulty item no matter their reputation is. Before I bought my clubs at a pro shop tried each one out before ponying up at the cash register.
What way can you prove any item is defective by not using it?????? They even let "new" Mercedes Benz go for a test drive and they back it up with a factory warranty.

If it was brand new how did you determine it was not defective? There is always a possibility. That is a liability any seller has to take.

More than likely the buyer is switching out his used one. It will be interesting to see if the SN# match.
Even if it doesn't, eBay will not do nothing.

Manufacturer guarantee. It goes back to the company who made it, not the store that sold it.

Did they let you take them for a full round of golf in wet conditions?

I have officially retired from eBay. 22 years and it's over.

According to your own Neutral feedbacks received it sounds like you have been reselling fakes anyway. Saying so in your listing titles does not get you a pass:
COPY NIKE ZM AIR ZOOM SUPERFLY ELITE 9 SIZE 9 COPIES
COPIES OF PHANTOM GX ELITES NIKE CLONES US MEN'S SIZE 11
When getting a Neutral after giving a refund on yet another sale you replied 'The following is in the description: These were purchased directly from China and can not be returned to Nike. If listed as authentic, they would have sold for double.'
You don't get to sell counterfeits here. Perhaps Ebay is not for you.
