Up until now I didnt have my settings set for ebay to cancel a listing after a certain number of days for non paying bidders. Anyway I have a buyer who didn't pay after 4 days so I decided to use the auto cancel setting and on day 5 of that listing I decided to set my preferences for eBay to automatically cancel at 7 days and not to relist it. I figured that when day 7 came and went the listing would be auto canceled. Its now day 10 and the item has not been automatically canceled and it is still listed as awaiting payment. Is the reason the auto cancel didn't happen because I didn't create the 7 day auto cancel to take place until 5 days after the listing had ended?

I "think" you self diagnosed your answer.
The option had to be "in force" at the time of the offer/sale.
I opine that because you can't alter/change or edit many items if an offer has been made.

Why don't you just go to the order and manually cancel for non-payment?
