I shipped and item and it arrived damaged. I'm trying to file a claim with USPS. Where do I download proof of value? I can't find a statement, with prices, anywhere in the seller hub....that I can download to a pdf.
Thanks!

A couple of suggestions. If you are on a phone open up the listing and you should be able to do the download the screen from your phone depending on the type of phone. If you are on a computer open up the listing and use the screen capture feature on your computer if you have one. If you have both you can always open up the listing on the computer take a picture of it with your phone and mail it to yourself, crop the image and download it as a PDF.
Not sure what your item was but you will probably need assistance from the buyer. Ask them to retain the item and the original packing because USPS is probably going to want them to take it into their PO for inspection. If the PO agrees it was damaged in shipping they will approve the claim but they will also keep the item and the packing.

The proof of value is the amount you sold it for. You can print out a copy of the selling invoice and then scan it into your computer.

Are you saying that you have a sold Order that does not appear in the Orders section of your Seller Hub?

Having a picture of the shipping damage and the packing material makes it alot easier for the USPS to settle the claim. The receiver needs to hold the item for 10 day in case the USPS inspects. In the 3 cases of shipping damage that occurred in the last 12 years was easily paid by the USPS. In most cases if you provide proof of value and photos of damage/packing material the USPS probably pay the claim without inspection if item is under $100.00. The USPS does not have the resources to inspect every claim.

I do not see anything you have sold of high enough value to spend your time on a USPS insurance claim, especially since you sell many fragile items that will be hard to prove the damage was USPS's fault. Honestly, I would just refund and move on. But the choice is yours.

I've got all that already. My problem is that Ebay does not provide us sellers with an EASY way to download the sale info with values/prices, so I can then forward it to USPS. With all this technology, they should be able to provide this service!

I understand that....but what a pain! With Ebay's technology, they should provide us sellers easy ways to handle damage claims with our shippers!

Go to your Seller Hub ---> Paid & Shipped
In the left column drop down boxes (where it probably says "Leave Feedback"
Click the down arrow and Select
"Print Packing Slip & More"
There you can print a receipt with the onfo you need
(order receipt, address label, pick list etc....)

My experience with USPS insurance is that it is worthless, please report back your thoughts on USPS insurance when this is done.

it is very easy to pull up a invoice and to scan it into your computer , can be done in less than a minute. Ebay makes it very easy. Ebay is not responsible for handling damage claims, it is your responsibility. You received some very good advice from others. The world is not perfect!

It's basically only good if the item is lost in the mail. Otherwise, it's like pulling teeth to win a damaged claim with USPS.

For every claim that I have filed with USPS in all but one case the receiver had to take the item and the original packing into their post office along with the claim case number before USPS would approve the claim. In all but one case USPS kept the item and the packing. You must have simply gotten lucky with your claims.
What most buyers/receivers don't realize that either the sender or the receiver can file a claim but it is much easier for the receiver to do so.

You copy a pic of the sold listing and download it to the claim. That is the value.

Just a cautionary note.
Don't make your customer wait for his refund.
You are responsible to your customer for the damage.
USPS is responsible to their customer (YOU) for damage they caused.
If you don't refund promptly, you could end up with Defect on your selling account.
Defects can mean restrictions in the number and value of your listings, higher Final Value Fees, and even, if the seller gets multiple Defects a closed selling account.
