DEFERRED PAYMENTS? eBay took my money after promising I wouldn't owe

eBay let everyone know they would defer payments, I applied, was approved and even double checked through email that I didn't owe anything this month.

Like many others I have NO INCOME because of the shutdown of our economy.

eBay took the money anyway! I needed that money to feed my family. eBay is SCUM, I have sold on eBay for more than 10 years and I used to love eBay, now I hate eBay, more than ever! How dare you do this to your sellers at this time!

What, did your confusing language mean that NEXT months payments would be deferred? Next month when no one is even going to owe anything because sales are in the dumps and they can't list anything because thrifts stores are closed? We needed the help this month to pay for sales that came in last month when the economy was normal....and I know that you KNOW this, eBay.

DEFERRED PAYMENTS? eBay took my money after promising I wouldn't owe

Apparently, I am in the minority here - I understood (right or wrong) from moment one when eBay made the offer that while the deferment might be approved in March, the deferment was for bills due April 15th and 30th. And that the deferment would not include everything, it would not include the whole bill due. But the portion that would qualify would be split for payback in the following 2 months. If $30 of a $100 bill is deferred on April 15th, then $70 will be expected to be paid April 15th, and on May 15th the whole $100 is due plus $15 of the deferment, and the same in June.

Yes, eBay could have and should have been more clear and spelled out exactly what they meant. But still, instead of asking questions, it appears that many sellers interpreted it to mean what they needed and so heard what they wanted to hear - that March 30th would be completely deferred.

I feel compassion for these seller's.  Maybe eBay will come up with a plan to remedy their error of miscommunication and issuance of miscommunication and false hope.  Indeed, in the name of the American spirit and in the face of this national crisis, they need to step up and do their part in my opinion.  Business, including eBay, has a portion of their profits set aside for catastrophe's as far as I know, plus they have business liability insurance.  I am not  well versed in the area of high finance, but it seems to me like this situation would qualify.

ebay should be providing reduced fees to sellers not just deferred payments. We are small businesses and deeply impacted by the affects of the Corona virus. As a large corporation, ebay should reduce fees to all sells, we are all in this together and reducing fees during this pandemic only makes sense.

And there you have it. You read what was written, and understood the difference between invoice dates, and payment dates, understanding that it was not retroactive.   If you had manually paid a March 15th invoice on March 17th, and then got approved for "deferred payment" on March 27th you would not be expecting a refund of your March 15th invoice.
