That's their problem, not mine.

For thousands of years, buyers and sellers have been lying to each other while haggling over prices. Why would that change just because this is eBay?
Pool company A had a pool cleaning robot for $399. Pool company B had the same robot for $559. I told Pool company B that Pool company A had it for $359 and would they match it. They said Yes and sold it to me.

Hopefully you told them to just 'get it at Target' and then block and ignore any future communications.

It's working again. I had to use the duster in a can. Cleared it right up. OOOOO!

Actually, I really do love those for Auction listings. BIN I ignore.
However, to me that means it is going to sell for better than I thought it would.

I think two things contribute to this type of chatter: Having offers turned on, and listing with highly padded prices. I do neither and rarely get any messages from prospective buyers regarding price.

I love the buyers who try to tell me "I've recently seen it sell much lower" and it's like they're using the #1 cheapest recent auction price out of 50 similar sales.
I also love the buyers who message me on listings w/o "Make Offer" and they aks "whats the best you can do on this". I'm thinking about screenshotting the listings, circling the list price, and sending it back to them.
Those same buyers who try to make me offers on items w/o make offer, I'm ready to start sending them listings for the same item I have being sold by someone else at their price point. You want it cheap? Buy it from that dude! Why you bothering me? Oh...you like mine better? I have a better reputation? I have better pictures? You trust me more as a seller? Then you're going to pay my price. You pay more to get it from someone more reliable, you don't pay less. If people keep pressing me for discounts ill start sending them listings for the same item that is being sold at their requested price. You know, be helpful and all.

@chapeau-noir wrote:Since most of my stuff isn't sold too many other places, I just sometimes get this: "What is your best price?"
I feel like answering: "A million dollars."
But most of the time people who want to dicker with me are really nice about it.
I shared this frustration recently with my father. He told me to start responding with "I thought my asking price was great, but if you have a better, higher price, I'm all ears!"

I don't have that option on my listings either, but it doesn't stop them.
