Customer did not return the item they were refunded on

I had a customer request a return because they sold the car before the item arrived to them. I accepted the return deducting my shipping costs. Within the ebay system it sent the customer the refund minus the shipping costs without me first receiving the part back. Now the customer is refusing to return the item and he has stated this in our conversations via text as he won't respond to my ebay emails.  How do I get my refunded amount back since he won't return the item? The case shows closed and I keep running into roadblocks as it says the decision cannot be appealed. Thanks for any assistance on what can be done.

Next time just accept the return, they will get the label, and wait until you have the item in your hands before you issue any refunds. Just because ebay suggests you offer them a refund, doesn't mean you have to act on it right away.

 

So sorry.


You get 3 options:

1. Return for a full refund

2. Partial refund and keep item

3. Full refund and keep item


You chose #2 so it is over and done with. They get to keep item and you get to keep part of their money.

Then you select 1. Return for a full refund. They get the label and you refund when it is returned to you.  The OP obviously opted for 2. Not a good idea. So what is your point?

*Speaks sIowly*  I was explaining to the OP the different options they were given and how they chose the wrong one so they are not getting the item back.

If you issue any sort of a refund before getting an item returned, you are telling the buyer to keep the item
