Sold Yesterday.
Shipped today.
The listing shows estimated delivery date of 2-25-25 to 3-3-25.
The tracking shows estimated delivery date of 3-14-25.
The buyer messages me today and says "Why is my order taking 3 weeks to arrive?"
Any suggestions on how to "gently" reply to this buyer?

Where's it going to show 3/14? EIS order?

I would tell them that what they are seeing is an estimated range determined by and usually delivery is closer to the first date rather than the second date (if that is true when shipping from HI).
Where is the buyer located? USPS may be extending delivery times to locations that are currently seeing weather related delays.
Not sure why your are asking, you are an experienced and reasonable person/seller, I'm sure you know how to reply "gently".

It's going to the great state of NY.

"Cuz that's the way it is, Bucko."
Or, just "It's the USPS estimate, but I doubt it will take that long. I will keep an eye on it, though."

Hopefully your buyer will be as luck as my buyer.

First explain how Dejoy screwed up the post office and then blame it on Trump.
I am sure they will understand. Don't use capital letters or bold.
Maybe include a flower emoji to lighten the mood. 🌻 YMMV

I've was trying to frame such a "gentle" reply in January, although my package was going to HI rather than coming from HI.
Item purchased 12/30. Ebay estimated delivery Jan 2-5
Item mailed at PO (at the counter) in the morning of 12/31
Item received at San Francisco sorting center in evening of 12/31 where...
Estimated delivery date was noted as updated to Mon, Jan 13
Item then bounced around the SF Distribution Centers [which is not unusual] Jan 1-2
Item then In Transit Arriving on Time Jan 2-6, then nothing, nada until...
Item then arrived at destination PO in HI, Jan 22
Item Delivered, Jan 23
Where was the item in the two weeks between Jan 6th and 22nd? On a ship? I'm guessing that USPS packages traveling in cargo containers or otherwise on a ship don't usually get update scans.
Thank [insert appropriate deity here] I had a wonderful buyer who never asked where their 12"x12"x12" four pound package of Haviland china was, and even gave wonderful feedback. I never had to do a ''gentle" reply.
My only suggestion for your "gentle" reply is maybe to mention that sometimes the USPS chooses to send Ground Advantage packages to or from HI by water and sometimes it chooses to send such Ground Advantage packages by air. At least that has been my experience. EBay has no clue about which method will be chosen and neither does a seller.
I hope you get a reply with a good gentle message to your buyer. I might have to use it sometime.

I know!
It's shipping "Ground Advantage" and USPS is waiting for Trump to build a road from Hawaii to the Mainland.....

As some of you know, there is more to the DeJoy resignation that meets the eye. USPS is currently a nation wide train wreck with derailments at distribution centers in Indiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky and Missouri. These are the ones that we know of. I expect to see more locations and issues uncovered in the weeks ahead. Both buyers and sellers are complaining about a lack of scans, updated transit times, and a slew of excuses including a hard play with creative weather alerts.
As a seller, I use USPS for 80% of my shipments, but starting Monday, I personally will be avoiding it as much as possible in the weeks and months ahead in order to protect my eBay business until USPS shows some stability.

This is a recording : "I am currently out of the office until Monday"...gently reply to this buyer.
And this is going to be your 'drama buyer' today...good luck.
It's a block of this buyer as well.
Is it the Christmas tree ornament or a hat?..can't be the xmas thing...LOL.
And what does 'STIHL' stand for?...LOL
