Custom SKU disappears after item sells via promoted listing

When my item sells via a promoted listing, my custom sku disappears from listing making it hard to find the item when I go to pick it.  Is there somewhere else I can find the original custom sku?

@t-bones_treasures

Wow! I have not heard of or experienced that issue before. That would also be a major problem for me.

Custom sku is available for me in:

1. Edit item

2. Manage all orders

3. Manage all listings (out-of-Stock preference on)

4. Order details

5. Ship your order

6. Sell similar for 1 of my sold orders (custom sku is copied)

Are you sure the custom sku was there in the original item? I usually check a listing after posting to verify all information. I have caught a missing custom sku. Some may have been my mistake. Other cases I had to enter and save the listing more than once for the custom sku to actually be saved.

You can go to manage active listings and sort by Custom Sku to bring any records with empty Custom Sku to the top of the list.

I use the out-of-stock option, not for inventory control (I mainly sell 1-offs) but to better deal with eBay glitches and workarounds. In your case, your sold item would be in active listings with a quantity of 0 (hopefully with the custom sku). You do have to manually select and end out-of-stock items.

I have not had a case of custom sku disappearing for items I am 100% sure were in the original listing. I have both organic and promoted listing sales.

Hopefully other sellers have experienced your issue and report.

Re: Custom SKU disappears after item sells via promoted listing

Slightly off topic.

There was a earlier thread talking about inventory control methods.

Someone mentioned using the custom SKU feature.

Once I was going to try it but that option wasn't available on the listing page.

I didn't know how/where to find it.

So I used "add item specific" to add a "inventory location" field.

Now i'm wondering if that added item specific field will stay forever with the listing -or- disappear?

Hi,

Go to options at the top of the page. It may be on the listing page, or it may be on the Listings page. I don't remember.  It will be in there as one of the check marks.

Just my Two Cents...

Re: Custom SKU disappears after item sells via promoted listing

Hi,

I have not done promoted listings. So, I am not sure this will work for you. However, about a year ago all my sku's disappeared.  I was able to print just the pick list and they were on there.  Sometimes that does not work. Sometimes you cannot print the pick list until after you have pulled the order.  (Makes no sense at all)

Re: Custom SKU disappears after item sells via promoted listing

This is nuts. I can't find items I have sold without going through every  box. I'm a disable senior and this is impossible.  I have about 275 listings which is small potatoes for most people. I've always put the SKY last in the description and it's gone.

Re: Custom SKU disappears after item sells via promoted listing

This is an old thread and will be closed by the mods.  I suspect whatever issue was causing it then has been fixed and you may have a new one.  I'd suggest you start a new thread and give the details of what's happening and see if people here can help!  I'll say, it's not happening on our account (currently, fingers crossed), but we would be in trouble if it disappeared!  We do put the shelf number and sku in our description just in case because of the risk of something like this happening (or just human error missing that field).
