Crickets After Vacation Hold Ended - In a State of Panic

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this. A few days ago, I put my Store on Vacation Hold and did not permit purchases. A day later I removed the Vacation Hold and since I have removed it I have had frighteningly dismal sales - just a few.

Now, I do not have many listings yet prior to the VH I was selling relatively well, even with a handful of listings.

All the listings are showing up - they are not slowly coming back from VH - they are active.

Still, what in the world have I done?

This may be quite normal subsequent to the ending of a VH; yet this, along with the many glitches that have eroded my enthusiasm for ebay, is more than I can handle.

It may not have occurred to you that things are slow all over right now. I have accounts on other sites and everything is slow.

The heat wave gripping a majority of the country hasnt helped things either.

Your not alone. I've noticed the last 2-3 years that if you put your store on vacation just for a day or two, when you come back it can take months to recover back to normal sales level. I hardly ever take just an extra couple days

for a 5 day weekend but now I'm scared to take any time off at all!

It's like ebay punishes you if you have any down time. I recently did just that, had "no sales allowed" on vaction mode for only a Thursday and Friday just a couple weeks ago and my sales are down to the lowest leven they've been in a few years even though I've added a bunch of new items and tried

everything in the book to get sales back up.

Right now I have more inventory than I've ever had in my 18 or so years selling here. ebay is 90% of my income, and I've never been more worried!

OMG.   That sounds like me, except for the amount of time selling in ebay. Ebay is all of my income right now - this is unreal. I have a funeral to attend next week. I am going to avoid the vacation hold and just work around it.

This is nuts. What a slow-down since the VH.   I have so much inventory in my house it is driving me insane.

Thank you for posting. 🙂

Re: Crickets After Vacation Hold Ended - In a State of Panic

I thought it was just me, but nowI see that I am not alone. I had to put my biz on "vacay hold" because I had serious medical issues & couldn't package & ship.  Now need surgery & will have to put it on hold again at that time, as have no one to help me post/ship etc. Very discouraging. We are all humans & unforseenthings happen in our lives that make us take time off, even if we prefer not to. I certainly can't post coming off anesthesia--as can't imagine what I would write for copy, could make an error. Currentl I have 677 postings and CRICKETS again a few weeks after the vacay hold was removed.. It's so crazy as I have from soup to nutz, beautiful items, both new & vintage & all price ranges from splurge to very small amounts of $. On here now almost l6 years, yet I feel INVISIBLE. I keep posting, hoping that will help, but so far, NOT. jUST strange questions--& I answer them and those people who ask never purchase. All purchases seem to be spontaneous, & always from buyers who do not ask strange questions--Now have 126 "watchers" but no action. Frustrating. My buyers are always happy--l00% feedback, which is not easy to obtain given all the lookie loo buyers. Doesn't seem to matter. Like everything else in the USA, all that matters is $$$$$$$ these days. Not quality, not originality....Venting only because it doesn't matter one way or other. I still LOVE eBay, it's the BEST board anywhere, but just frustrated as cannot understand why this inactivity in sales is happening for such a long period. I read the new update, & it clearly says your listings may not be seen. It  APPEARS that my listings ARE VISIBLE, so that's even worse, in my opinion. And to top it off I had one total wacko potential buyer, the nastiest person in all my years on here-now blocked. But who needs to put up with abuse AND crickets???  Pity party here. Will get over it & move forward, just needed to vent and to say thank you to the poster who inspired my post. Misery loves company. Instead, I hope we both have boffo sales--asap!

I looked at your store too and it showed 0 listings. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I was just searching the posts to see if others were having very low sales .

Re: Crickets After Vacation Hold Ended - In a State of Panic

I just took a Thursday and Friday off a couple weeks ago. My sales are now down another 40% from before vacation.

Overall, my sales volume is down 65% since January!
