From one of the items I have for sale I have received this message:
"PAID SEND TO MY EBAY ADDRESS : NAME ( NO GIVEN NAME. INDRA) ADDRESS : ***** SHIP TODAY THANKS MISS. GOD BLESS YOU"
I checked the item and it has not been sold and I have not received any money. If this is a scam, I find it confusing that The user who sent the message has a 100% , 304 FB. But they have not had any activity in over a year.
I replied to them saying " I received your message, but you have to pay for the item # xxxx before I can ship it." This is their reply: "PAID SEND TO MY EBAY ADDRESS : NAME ( NO GIVEN NAME. INDRA) ADDRESS : ***** SHIP TODAY THANKS MISS. GOD BLESS YOU"

I admit that I'm just a buyer, but that sounds like fraud. I seriously think they're trying to scam you.

don't reply, ignore it, the ONLY thing that matters is a message from EBAY

If the account hasn't seen any activity in a year with seemingly legitimate feedback and then send these messages then odds are it's a hacked account.

It sounds like someone hacked the account and is trying to scam you.
In the future … DO NOT reply to these messages. They are meant to trick you into shipping your item before you realize you haven’t been paid.

This is a scammer hoping you're naive/ignorant/inexperienced/clueless as to how Ebay works.
When you legitimately sell an item here, it moves to awaiting payment: https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:AWAITING_PAYMENT until the buyer pays. NEVER, ever ship to an address given to you in a message. NEVER. NEVER. The only shipping address that matters is the address that Ebay gives you when the buyer pays.

I've been selling on ebay since 2002 (20years) so I do know how eBay works. And I knew the message was wrong. But the thing that confused me is that the user has a 100% , 304 FB. Someone with that track record would certainly not be sending scam messages. And that is the reason I contacted them, to make them aware that I received a message from their account. So apparently that account is hacked and the original authentic owner does not know it's been hacked.
I also can not believe anybody would be tricked into thinking this is correct eBay procedure and ship an item before they have been paid.
Hope you all understand what I'm trying to say.

That's great advise for anyone who is new to eBay. But I been here a long time, and I have Never been fooled by scams and I would NEVER EVER fall for a scam like this one. But thanks for the advice.

You would think so, but it happens all the time. New sellers join, don't bother to read anything about how to sell and get paid. They think they can do their own thing, and it just doesn't work that way.
Even long time experienced sellers fall for this from time to time, generally sellers who have never had problems before. Well, nothing is ever a problem, until it IS a problem.
And yeah, an account with feedback, but nothing received for some time, coming back to life asking for you to mail to such and such address - that's a hacked account for sure. The original owner (most likely) doesn't know. They probably have a very imaginative password for their account like "password", "qwerty" or 123456. If you suspect the account is hacked, report it to customer service. That's really all you can do.

Use the private messaging feature only, do not post on the main wall as any post with personal information will be deleted.
I would be willing to bet the address is a freight forwarder and the scammer is somewhere overseas. (not saying folks in the US don't scam - they do) Google the address.

It's a hijacked account.
The original owner has nothing to do with the demand.
I've been hoping that with Managed Payments it will be harder for scammers to hijack selling accounts, since registering for MP is much harder than registering for Paypal .
The advantage for Buyers is that MP is soley for sellers, while a PP account was easy to open as a buying method and then to add invoicing and payment acceptance.
Report the hijacked account to PP.

I do understand what you're saying ... but, sadly, newbie sellers get tricked all the time by ingenious scammers.
And it is very common for accounts to get hacked that have been dormant for over a year. Heck, my account got hacked after being 'dormant' for two hours. 🙄
BTW, you are posting with an account that has only 13 feedback from selling. There's no reason for anyone to think that you've been selling for 20 years unless you tell us. 🙂
