Coronavirus - Are your sales up, down, or no change?

I'd like to understand how this virus situation is affecting ebay sales generally. I want to see what's happening, figure out what to expect, and survive this thing as a seller. Generally, are people buying on ebay more, less, or no change?

So, are your sales up, down, no change? To what do you attribute it to, if anything?

I'll start. My sales are up significantly the past week or so. I sell things that are not at all related to health or the coronavirus. However, there could be other reasons for the uptick. I got sick a year ago and didn't ship a bunch of orders, and that blew my top seller status and ebay handicapped my listings for a year. I just got top rated seller status back, and that could explain the sales increase.

It'll pick up when (if) the stimulus checks show up for a little while .... looks like people are still in search of deals for things that they need as opposed to things that they want.

You are absolutely correct...I went back through my day runner this morning and found that I started tracking the numbers the last week in January.

Sales seemed to have slowed down. I am lowering my prices in hopes that will stimulate some movement

It's been super slow for me since things have intensified with covid 19 but dont know if it's related or not. I'm sort of new at this but was selling pretty consistently til really recently.

Mine is down. But, to others who have coronavirus, I feel blessed to have a good health.

And it's become more clear that the WH was briefed regularly dating back to early January that this was going to be an issue. Nothing was done. 

The president was downplaying this as recently as three weeks ago. They may have finally pivoted to a more realistic assessment of the situation over the last two weeks, but the fact remains that a lot of time was lost while trying to downplay this as a flu-like issue that would go away in April "when it got warm out." 

They're trying to say all the right things now, but it doesn't align with reality to look at the timeline and not conclude that a lot of time in late January when the first US case was confirmed and through February was wasted. Time that could have been devoted to testing and getting the general population prepared for what was likely coming.

I mean, the story that came out this week that revealed several senators sold off lots of stock after being briefed on how bad this virus was likely to be is the sort of thing that should make us Americans far more upset than anything that's happened on eBay. They knew what the score was weeks ago, then proceeded to publicly downplay this, assuring us that the markets would remain strong. All the while feverishly cashing out themselves. It's disgusting, regardless of party affiliation.

My sales are dramatically down ! Businesses closed & folks forced out of work - no income !

Enterprising people here are at least getting yardwork done - one just thinned their bamboo patch and put the trunks out.

I have been selling some higher priced items. Since last week it seems everything just went flat. I was hoping to move just a single item to help pay some bills but so far Im not having any success at all. I have been selling since 2008.  I have seen a real and sudden lack of interest. Understandable as Im sure people are focused on all the sudden changes in our country. Its too bad for me however as I really needed the income to survive.

Yes - exactly the same for me. Its like someone turned the tap off . . I had strong interest in my items - then this last week it is like a door just shut tight.

My sales have dropped significantly!  I used to sale high end men clothing.  Most recently, I have added other pieces since my sales had dropped so much in the past 2 yrs.  The reality is - no one is going to be buying clothes right now if they can't get out to wear them!  I have stopped shopping for my business.  Luckily, I have a large amount of clothing in my inventory and could post for another 2 months or so but what is the point of having to pay fees and not sell anything.  I usually do really well this time of year.  It seems I was just recovering from the set back we had last year with the Govt shut down.  I was beginning to see a good profit and  things appeared to be leveling out.   I have made (1) sale this week!  I might need to consider doing something else to supplement my retirement!

The government at the time did the same thing this one is doing, deny, cover up, telling people to just go on with their lives. 50 million ,at least, died world wide. Including Trump's Grandfather. Do we want that now...no...we do not. moondogblues 

Are you serious with all  cover up and go on with your lives stuff ? Trump HAS  said ,, stay home ,, don't go out unless you have  to , stay away from anyone who is sick ,, wash your hands  often . He's NEVER denied there's a deadly virus  in fact the exact opposite . He's made himself , the surgeon general , the vice president , Dr Fauci , Dr Ben Carson and a slew of other virial specialists  available to the public nearly every single day   since the outbreak .  I have no idea where in the world you are getting all this  information ,, but it's just dead wrong . YES , it stopped the spread of the virus from  getting much much worse . I'm having a real hard time believing that you're paying any  attention to the virial experts at all .  Tulips
