I'd like to understand how this virus situation is affecting ebay sales generally. I want to see what's happening, figure out what to expect, and survive this thing as a seller. Generally, are people buying on ebay more, less, or no change?
So, are your sales up, down, no change? To what do you attribute it to, if anything?
I'll start. My sales are up significantly the past week or so. I sell things that are not at all related to health or the coronavirus. However, there could be other reasons for the uptick. I got sick a year ago and didn't ship a bunch of orders, and that blew my top seller status and ebay handicapped my listings for a year. I just got top rated seller status back, and that could explain the sales increase.

Maybe warm weather offers some protection for some reason. andrew
Cold weather has an affect on the human body by reducing immune response thus making it easier to contract a virus . This is why the president said we may see a decline in the spread of this virus as the weather gets warmer . Tulips

For me a slight uptick over the past month. I don't see any real change in sales so far.

Cold weather means people are outside less. UV rays kill viruses. The ideal temperature for a virus to survive is about the temperature inside your refrigerator, it's the longest "shelf life" too. Throw in darkness, and viruses love your fridge. Warmer temperatures and UV light kill off viruses. However this virus is proving so far to thrive in hotter locations. Singapore for example, is very warm. Covid-19 has survived very well there. Same with a lot of Malaysia/Indonesia. South America and Africa we will have to wait and see. So far warmer temperature locations do not appear to have slowed this virus down. Speaking that it does before we know how this virus will react is wishful thinking from the president. Nobody knows yet...absolutely nobody.
The president stating many times over and over again that anybody can have a test if they want one is a BOLD FACED LIE.

We agree on something. Hallelujah!

My first thought is that it's been a crazy week or two for most people. I learned a new term yesterday: Zero Risk Bias, which is the idea that people gravitate toward tasks that eliminate all of a perceived risk versus tasks that eliminate some risks, even if eliminating "some" represents a great risk reduction overall. In other words...people have been busy running around town stocking up on TP, rice & beans, while ebay shopping may have fallen by the wayside. I am hopeful that things settle down and return to some level of normalcy soon.
I'd be interested to hear how things unfold over the coming week(s).
Oh my word, first, we probably agree on a whole lot more then what is discussed on The Community. I've posted more then once that this is Business not Personal when interacting on a Discussion ... I think many here agree on one thread with high 5's and back slapping then take aggressive opposing positions on another. But THAT is what "Discussion" is all about in my mind. THIS is a great thread, period, that's another reason I am posting. You have also taught me a new term too, Zero Risk Bias ... as soon as I read that I ran outside and took some pictures thinking maybe this might apply. One of the things I am doing right now is taking advantage of having some extra time to clear wood from a friends property, cutting, hauling, splitting, stacking ... not sure how "zero" the risk is but so far the squirrels I've run in to have been generally friendly and its still cool enough the bees haven't come out to bug me LOL! But I have little contact with anyone while I am doing this and I'm getting something constructive done.

Except that in the Southern Hemisphere it still IS warmer weather and they're also still getting it.

I don't think anyone who simply wants a test should have one. It should still be restricted to those showing symptoms or having had contact with someone who has tested positive.
There are reports of people showing up at an ER demanding a "test" when all they have is a headache.

I've Flat-lined. Nothing but low ball offers. Usually 100.00 per day. At 588.00 for the month. No sales for the last week.

I agree!
That's besides the point of Trump lying stating anyone can have one that wants one!
I think we can all agree that we are most worried about those that NEED a test are not getting one. There's a SEVERE shortage of testing kits in the USA.

I like your woodpile, Mr. Lincoln. Beef up those biceps!
I too am going to start on yard work and whatever I can do outside in this sunshine. Need a little positive thinking, exercise, vitamin D from sunshine, and a better looking yard, what's not to like?

I think we (the US) are pushing the idea of limited testing because we don't have enough test kits, and I also think our response is the worst of any country in the industrial world. I sure hope we fix this soon, but honestly, it's probably too late to focus on testing. My sense is that we are now in the mitigation phase.
Countries with massive testing (China, S. Korea) are recovering while Laissez-faire is associated with social collapse (Italy, France, Spain, and others probably by now).
And yes, as was stated above, nobody should ever get their news from this "president". He is not a serious or responsible person. In fact, he - the president of the united states - just 2 days ago, said he takes no responsibility for his administration's response to this disaster. Mind boggling. Incomprehensible. I was going to say he has the mind of a child, but I know children who are more competent than he.

Up. We are purposefully lowering prices on household goods and consumables, out of both affection for morality and to leave no doubt with eBay if they are looking for poor sellers gouging.

Sales are shifting from computer peripherals to remote controls. People must be feeling cooped up.
The semi-lockdown here is coinciding with our 'March break' when the drizzle stops and we have nice weather. So despite the cold I'll be zero-risking out on my bike and on foot getting a few rare rays.
There's talk in this area, also, about some of the telecommuting remaining after the crisis is over - more than a few companies are finding it advantageous.

Wow!! Nice woodpile,
The economy was doing so well, this season we could barely find any to buy & be delivered. At a high price too.
We just enjoy the fireplace, almost out of wood.

The flu epidemic in 1918 was way more active in the summer.
We just don't know.
Sure hope warm weather makes it go away.
At least give us time until next winter

and it is summer in Australia.
