Re: Contact with eBay

OK, that might be true -- in your mind.  But we should probably let the OP decide whether it's worth it to him, don't you think?

I had an order and when I clicked on "Print Label or QR Code" it gave me two codes and when I looked at it, it showed two codes and two labels. I tried for hours to contact eBay. I managed to delete one of the codes and when I went to PO to ship the book, the code was declined. Next day I spent hours trying to resolve but no help was available. I could not get chat box, nor I could get any way to call them or receive any call from them. I had to cancel the order and I am still losing nearly 11 dollars by way of shipping charge. Same story today. Help and Contact is like merry go round. Takes again and again to the same page. I am thinking of withdrawing my name from Seller Hub.

You don't need CS to void the shipping label.

You have 28 days to void the shipping label.
Go to your shipping labels and click Void in the menu next to the unused labels.
It'll take 3 to 4 weeks to receive the refund.

I would add that as a general principle, it’s rare that something is best accomplished by contacting customer service. Most tasks not only can be more easily accomplished online yourself, but often can’t be done by customer service.

Re: Contact with eBay

Sure, that’s what I said - I have no idea if it is worth it, and OP might want to take a principled stand.  I hope you appreciate that I’m providing a different take on something - not being mean, just putting a little context to things.  Not sure why you are taking an aggressive tone.

The amount of time that OP will spend on resolving an issue most likely is not worth the effort. That effort would better be put into something else.  Now, I don’t know if it is worth it. And maybe the OP wants to take a principled stand.  But, if we’re talking about a five dollar issue that will take 10 hours to manage, and a 20% chance of having something go in your favor, I agree that the juice is not worth the squeeze."

There are a lot of us on here that do not have to pay bills with our eBay earnings but there are also a lot who depend on every cent they can muster .  Since we don't know (and it's none of our business) what the OP's financial status is, it may very well be worth it to him to spend a great deal of time chasing that "five dollar issue".   Regardless of whether it's financial or principal, m60driver should not have said what he did.

When a seller contacts eBay, it will be "held against them in the long run"?

Where did you hear that and can you offer proof?

No, but it is a better guess than some of the other speculations about the Almighty Algorithm.  Ianone has stated that he is not a fan of the small seller.  You see here almost daily small sellers contacting Ebay over trivialities or minor technical issues that can better be answered elsewhere.  These contacts cost Ebay, even if minimally on the first contact when a offshore customer service agent takes the call.  Ebay wants sellers to handle these issues on their own and take a loss here or there just like any other retail business.   Each contact is certainly recorded in the data base.  If a seller would like a courtesy refund they should probably have a clean record.

Given that the OP is a small seller his question should be asked here (no details were given of the issue), or using Google, or use Chat GPT, and only contacting Ebay as an absolute last resort.

I too am a small seller who has occasional issues but I can't remember the last time I contacted Ebay, maybe a decade or more ago.
