Confused

Hello, I made a new eBay account because I didn't like the new eBay payout method and wanted to use paypal again and now had two people send me a message through send a offer giving me their phone number to text them to ask me a question, they wouldn't actually send a offer, and eBay deleted first person before account before I could respond and tell him I'm sorry, I can't it's against eBay's Policy to share personal information, after I put up a message on my profile page not to do this, someone else did it and I had to message her telling I'm sorry I declined your offer and letting her know about the message I have put on my profile page to please message me through Contact Seller if you have any questions.  I think they're doing it because they think I'm new seller and I am not, I've been selling on eBay for along time on my first account and not stupid to fall for a trick or scam! Why do they do this to new sellers knowing it's wrong?

@tamri32

The scammers know that's who they are more successful with.

The 0 is the price you pay for making the new account. Soon, the new account will be forced into Managed Payments, too. Sellers can't get around it.

Re: Confused

It is probably a combination of things. While it is true that new sellers are a target for scammers they also zero in on high value and highly desirable items such as electronics. I looked at the items you currently have posted and do not see anything that would make them a high value target for scammers but who knows these days.

I don't understand you comment about using PayPal even with your old account customers should have still been able to pay for items using PayPal it's just that under managed payments that is not how the sellers funds are handled. This should also be the case with your new account unless you managed to get it setup without being pulled into managed payments. If so that will probably only be temporary as eBay's goal is to have every seller under managed payments by 2021.

Re: Confused

@tamri32   That's very common for new accounts, criminals will try anything and that's what they are ... they are INTERNET CRIMINALS, not scammers.  Regarding your new account with PayPal that will only last for a little while.  By sometime next year ALL Selling accounts will be in Managed Payments ... give that some thought for the New Year.

The OP is not referring to buyers making purchases with PayPal, s/he's referring to having his/her own payments as a seller processed by PayPal.

New accounts are not automatically enrolled into Managed Payments. They are established with PayPal as their payment processer.

The OP apparently wanted to delay the mandatory enrollment into Managed Payments as long as possible, and creating a new account is one way to do that.

Re: Confused

Okay well so far I haven't been asked to do managed payment and I hope it stays that way, I don't like it, it takes forever to pend, then transfer over and they keep changing my transfer date, was suppose to transfer to my bank on Dec. 8 but then changed to the 9th! It's frustrating.

Re: Confused

Okay thank you. I don't know I didn't post anything electronic this was a dress and it makes no sense......... And I'm sorry, I meant for sellers managed payment, I didn't know when I switched it would be so hard to use and so frustrating. And I hope not, I prefer PayPal, it's easier, I could pay for buyers shipping label, pay eBay's fee, and I could transfer the money I made to my bank faster than managed payments! I'm sorry it's slow and takes forever to do all that! But anyways thank you for answering my question.

Re: Confused

Thank you pburn, I'm sorry I meant managed payments for sellers and making a new account seemed the only way out of it......... But I wasn't expecting scammers or criminals or whatever they're called when I made this account! Now I'm thinking maybe I should just delete it?! If it's going to cause trouble...........!

Re: Confused

That thought had occurred to me but given eBay's goal of having everyone in managed payments, by now sometime in 2021, I didn't think eBay would be stupid enough to continue to allow new accounts to open under the old financial management system. Well wrong again they are that stupid. Why would they burden both themselves as well as the seller with doing things this way? I can only assume that eBay is to inept at managing its transition to MP, which given the continual slip in the deadline is probably the case, or it is a bait and switch strategy.

If you simply delete those messages, no trouble will be caused.

The mechanism for creating eBay accounts connected to PayPal has been in place for a couple decades.

What exactly is the "burden" on eBay?
