Confused - Does eBay Want A Bank Statement Showing Balance and Transactions?

Hi All

YES I KNOW ITS PROBABLY BEEN ASKED.

Now that we have that out of the way.

I read some posts where people sent a bank statement to verify their identity but

redacted some "private" info.

I did the same but eBay rejected the document and sent me this:

"Thank you for your prompt response to our request to verify account information. Regrettably, we need to inform you that we were not able to complete verification with the information you provided.

In order to complete our verification process, we are asking you to provide a bank statement. Your bank statement will be used to validate the identity information you provided previously. Until you provide us with this documentation, your payouts are on hold.

Please upload a bank statement that:

• Includes transactions details"

Do they expect me to send them a Bank statement with my Balances and Transaction History for everyone to see?

Cheers

Happy Thanksgiving...

I still contend that the things that would be needed by Adyen would be no different than needed by eBay, and would not include displaying any transactions that do not pertain directly to those associated with verification of the account holder to match with their eBay account registration.

Any other transactions are not eBay's or Adyen's  business. The account balance is not their business.

Their sole interest in the bank statement provided should be to verify that the eBay seller name is the name that is associated with the bank account.

I'm going through this right now. It has nothing to do with the name's and addresses matching. They legit want to see where you shop and how much you spend as well. I provided them the first page of my statement only, and they rejected me stating,

"Thank you for your prompt response to our request to verify account information. Regrettably, we need to inform you that we were not able to complete verification with the information you provided.

They really want to know how much you spent at Walmart on Saturday. What does that have to do with verifying my identity? NOTHING.

I called in and the rep told me that she has no clue and it doesn't make any sense and that they've been escalating that to the managed payment executives. She even said, "All we need is the verifying information on the first page and THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF THE ACCOUNT. To ask for your transactions makes no sense. It's like asking you to tell us where you went last night."

EXACTLY. The reps are even confused. My thought is they just in trying to comply with regulations just sent this out and didn't think it through and are taking their sweet time to fix it. Either that or not many people complain about it, but the rep was saying people are complaining about it.

It does seem most people don't care, but you should. You give someone an inch, and they'll take it a mile. I don't think we have to look further than Australia to see that.  I don't know why they may want that information on us, but it's not for any good reason. I'm hoping it's just them being stupid.

I'm going through the same thing.  Ebay is holding my money hostage.  We need to file a class action lawsuit on this as they are treating us like trash.  I'm not sending an entire statement to them.

There are multiple ways to confirm your account beside providing a bank statement, did you refuse to use any of the alternate methods?

@global.brands   No, they are not going to post your bank statement for all to see, it is for their internal use.  Does the name on your eBay account AND bank account match exactly?  That could be an issue.

Prior to going in to Managed Payments I opened a new account with a new bank and got a new credit card through that bank with a fixed limit on it ... that sections eBay business off (and of course access) from all my other banking.

Without them being able to verify things for you then you will not be able to receive payments from your sales ...

So they are not going to post your bank statement for all to see on purpose but with the constant data breaches it statistically has a very good chance of getting into the wrong hands

That’s not what they want. They want to view your transactions. They are looking for money laundering. I got that straight from the horses mouth.

Exactly - they are investigating all BOA eBay people. The team leader told me today they are looking through individual bank customer accounts looking for money laundering. The government can’t even do this but they conned EBay into it.
