Completely disillusioned with eBay

Hello

I have just been done in a way that I would have never dreamt up. A person bought a set of oracle cards last Sunday evening after several messages making sure they where genuine Hayhouse cards, they are out of print. Everything was okay with that sale I sent the cards out first class so she received them the following day Tuesday no problem. She left really good feedback, I then received another message asking if another set of cards where authentic as she would like to purchase these also again they are out of print both sets are new in original retail packaging unopened. She then left feedback as soon as she received them saying she was over the moon with the cards, soon after this I get a message saying she had opened the cards and they where all stuck together could  she return for a refund as she would not be able to use them in this state, from the photos she sent me they looked fake cards the box even looked different I then spoke to eBay who advised me I had to except the cards back the cards arrived on Saturday. I then made the mistake of refunding her which closed the case. So now I am out of pocket the rare out of print cards I had have not arrived back.  The buyer is a reseller selling rare out of print Hayhouse oracle cards, they have been selling on eBay since December 2020. I have had an eBay account for approx. 12 years. I expected more from eBay.

Re: Completely disillusioned with eBay

Sorry for your troubles.

I am not understanding something here. Let me see if i have the facts right. The buyer bought two sets of your cards, in two separate transactions. One set was unsatisfactory and she sent these back to you. You rec’d them on Saturday. You then refunded the buyer.

How is it you are out the cost of the cards? They were sent back, you refunded. You now have the cards, the buyer has their refund. Everyone is back to square one. Or are you saying the cards were opened and therefore not suitable for selling? Or did you issue the refund before the cards arrived?

If you made the mistake of refunding prior to delivery, how is it that eBay let you down?

You are located in Manchester, U.K.   Over here in the States we also have fraudulent buyers stealing from sellers like candy from babies.   You may have already posted this warning on your own selling site?

Thanks for the heads up on selling unopened sets of cards by telling us about another angle on getting scammed.

Buy them back and do the same to them. That was easy. No?

well : since you got back an item that was not what you sent: it is fraud and theft: report it to law enforcement.

Re: Completely disillusioned with eBay

The cards where opened and replaced by a fake set ( you may ask how do I know this the cards are stuck together and 3mm smaler then the Hayhouse specifacation for these cards also the print is off centre and they weigh 4g less then the origional pack did) then sent back to me for a refund, which I had to give to the buyer as she had opend a case up to say the cards where damaged when she opend them, but the box is still in perfect condition. So a lesson learned do not sell oracle cards on eBay ever again.

Re: Completely disillusioned with eBay

Ebay is not your friend!  They side with the buyer, regardless of truth.  I had been with them for 22 years.  Only in the last 6 months did I ever have an issue, and all...ALL of it was due to the breakdown at USPS (due to the fake pandemic AND the mail in ballot SNAFU).   Not one customer, in Canada, has more than 1 brain cell working, for they put the blame on me (for late shipping), yet I sent every one of them a photo of the stamped/postage paid envelopes the day they were mailed (all withing 1 business day of auction ending).  Ebay just stabbed me in the face and said tough!

Do not trust eBay, for they are untrustworthy to all but the largest sellers.
