Complaint about signature confirmation?

Hello, I just sold my ps4 to a buyer that has over 1500 feedback. I shipped the item by Fedex with adult signature confirmation required, for my protection, and per ebay policy. I informed the seller, and he is now is upset and cleaims that  he works late and will miss shipment and wants to cancel sale. The item already shipped out. I've never had this happen before, what should I do??

Reminds me of a case years ago when I was a new seller.   The buyer actually threatened to give negative feedback about the signature confirmation.  

 

Here's what happened.  I processed a Priority Mail Express label, but eBay's default selection is "Signature Required".    I suppose since Signature Confirmation is free with Express Mail, eBay sets it up that way.  Or eBay thinks if a person deems a package important enough to pay extra for Express, the recipient would likely be available to sign for the important package.

 

Anyway, I got lucky.  The buyer was understanding when I apologized for the inconvenience, and explained honestly what happened - the fact that eBay shipping labels automatically pre-selects Signature Required for Express Mail.  

 

He left positive feedback.  But ever since that Express Mail / Signature Confirmation incident, I NEVER send anything with Signature Required.  I have to double-check to make sure I uncheck the Signature Confirmation box when I'm printing an Express Mail label.

 

 

 

 


I guess you never gets payments equal to or greater than $750 then? If you do you had better use signature confirmation or you will have no protection from INR. I only use it in those situations and will continue to do so. If a buyer has a problem with that then they need to not bid/buy. Those are the rules that eBay sets forth. Admittedly though, the OP used it when it was completely unnecessary and the buyer has justification for being upset. There was no good reason for the OP to use it for his own protection. All it did was add more cost to the seller that bought him a potential problem.

only the buyer knows if it is convenient or not. 

 

Because I am a nosy old bat, I look up most of my customer's addresses on Google Maps.

While my domestic customers mostly have city addresses, the Americans seem to live four miles past the back of beyond and then down a gravel road.

Well, they chose to live there, I guess they are willing to trade off convenience.

They raised the signature required on packages to $750 from $250 because signature required is a hassle to the scammers that eBay values so highly.

 

Me, I still go by the $250 rule as I'm not any more able to lose that kind of money than I was a few years ago when they got so cavalier. If I list an item that I expect will sell for more than $250 then I set the listing up for those requirements, including very nonchalantly mentioning the signature confirmation in the listing. But today 62% of buyers will not read that as they look at the first picture and none of the text.

Because Amazon has different — much stricter — seller protection requirements than eBay. Amazon requires Signature Confirmation regardless of the value of the package.

 

That's why I have to believe that the sellers who are always whining about eBay and scammers have no idea what it's like to sell on Marketplace.

 

Last year, Amazon socked me for $40 over an item not received claim that I would have won no problem had it been eBay/PayPal. I had a Delivered scan, but the buyer refused to do anything on his end to track down the package, and he ultimately had Amazon force me to refund.
